Applies to: Viasat Wi-Fi Gateway 3 (VWG3) with separate Network Power Adapter. The older Viasat Wi-Fi Gateway has different hardware.

Work through these checks
Check whether this is one device or the whole home
Try a second phone or computer on the Gateway 3 Wi-Fi with cellular data off. If only one device fails, check that device’s network settings first. If all devices fail, record whether the Wi-Fi name appears and whether the Gateway shows a service error.
What the result means: A single-device fault does not establish a satellite outage.
Inspect only safe indoor connections
The Network Power Adapter and Gateway 3 both need power. Verify the adapter switch is on and the blue Ethernet cable reaches the Gateway WAN port. Check visible cable ends without disconnecting installed satellite coax. Do not handle damaged, wet or hot equipment.
What the result means: If power or Ethernet was loose, retest before restarting anything.
Follow the Gateway 3 restart order once
If Viasat shows no known account or area issue and equipment is safe, use its Gateway 3 restart sequence: switch off the Network Power Adapter and unplug the Gateway, restore adapter power first and wait for it to lock, then power the Gateway and allow the connection to return. The FAQ says reconnection may take 5–10 minutes. Do not factory-reset as a first test because it removes your custom Wi-Fi setup.
What the result means: If still offline, report exact lights and tests to Viasat instead of changing dish hardware.
When to stop and get help
Do not open either unit, touch damaged power equipment, modify installed coax, or align the dish. Ask Viasat about persistent offline status or replacement hardware.
What to tell support
Gateway 3 model, Network Power Adapter power state, exact LEDs, whether Wi-Fi appears, second-device result and restart result.
Common questions
Does Wi-Fi connected mean satellite online?
No. Local Wi-Fi can work while the satellite service is unavailable. Check Viasat’s service state and both indoor units.
Should I factory-reset the gateway?
Not as an initial check. Viasat says a reset requires reconfiguring your Wi-Fi; use the ordinary restart sequence first.
