| Only one app fails | Check its sign-in and separate subscription. |
Work through these checks
Prove the satellite side still works
Open a live channel included in your package. If it works, compare an app. DStv explicitly says Ultra is still a satellite decoder without internet. If the TV cannot show the box menu, check HDMI and power; if channels show E48, use the E48 signal path instead.
What the result means: Working live TV points away from dish alignment for an app-only problem.
Test internet on Ultra
Check Ultra’s built-in Wi-Fi or Ethernet status, then try a second device on the same home network. DStv recommends enough bandwidth for streaming and warns that data charges may apply. If both devices fail, troubleshoot the home internet service; if only Ultra fails, reconnect it using DStv’s Ultra settings.
What the result means: Built-in Wi-Fi means a legacy USB connector is unnecessary.
Check app entitlement and sign-in
Compare two apps. If only one fails, check its own sign-in, service status and subscription; DStv lists separate subscriptions for several third-party apps. If all apps fail while internet works, use DStv’s Ultra help with the exact error. Avoid a factory reset before account checks.
What the result means: An app subscription is distinct from satellite reception.
When to stop and get help
Stop for exposed wiring, water or dish work. For an app/account fault use DStv support; for a confirmed home-network outage contact your internet provider.
What to tell support
Ultra label; subscribed channel result; app names/errors; Wi-Fi or Ethernet result; second-device test; app subscription status.
Common questions
Will live satellite channels stop without internet?
DStv says no: Ultra remains a satellite decoder, though online features require internet.
