Foxtel iQ5 F1027: fix the aerial reception path

F1027 is a free-to-air aerial issue. Check the correct indoor cable and scan terrestrial channels without changing dish alignment.

Applies to: Australia, Foxtel iQ5 showing F1027. These steps are not instructions for Foxtel Now, iQ4, satellite alignment or an internet outage. Menu wording can vary: the support page uses both Terrestrial Channels and Terrestrial Settings.

What you seeWhat to do next
Paid channels work, aerial channels failFollow the aerial path below. That pattern alone does not establish a satellite dish fault.
No iQ5 menus appearCheck the TV input and HDMI path first. An error from the television is not necessarily F1027 from the receiver.

Work through these checks

  1. Identify and reseat the aerial connection

Switch the TV and iQ5 off at the wall. Follow the separate TV aerial cable between the box and aerial wall plate; Foxtel’s diagram labels this separately from the two satellite cables. Check only accessible indoor ends, then reconnect those aerial ends firmly without forcing a damaged socket. Leave the satellite feeds in their existing positions. Restore power and see whether the error changes.

What the result means: An uncertain or damaged connection needs help before scanning; a secure connection leads to the full scan.

  2. Run the terrestrial full scan

Press Home, open Settings and choose Terrestrial Channels, then Full Scan and Begin Scan. The official support page also calls the section Terrestrial Settings later in its instructions: match the free-to-air section shown by your box rather than searching satellite settings. Allow up to 30 minutes and record the result. After success, open Local Channel Sources to inspect the channels found. Do not assume every channel must be available at your address.

What the result means: Channels restored: stop. Failed scan or recurring F1027: proceed once to the restart check.

  3. Restart once and use the result

For this iQ5 error, Foxtel specifies holding the box power button for at least five seconds to restart. Wait a few minutes; if it has not come back on, press power again as instructed. Repeat the terrestrial full scan once. If channels remain absent, contact Foxtel or an Australian aerial technician with your cable and scan observations. Do not repeat resets indefinitely, erase the box or climb to inspect the aerial.

What the result means: Persistent failure is an escalation point, not proof that the satellite dish needs moving.

When to stop and get help

Stop for damaged electrical leads, liquid, sparks or burning smells. Do not climb to the aerial, move the dish, open the box or repair mains wiring. Foxtel or a local Australian aerial technician is the appropriate escalation; FixSatellite’s technician matching is U.S.-only.

What to tell support

Save the scan result, channels found, exact menu wording and whether subscription channels work. Give account details privately to official support; no passwords or addresses in public feedback.

Common questions

Why can Foxtel work while free-to-air fails?

They can use different reception paths. The iQ5 diagram separates the satellite and terrestrial aerial connections; internet delivery is another possibility. Compare the affected channels before changing equipment.

Do I need a factory reset?

The cited F1027 procedure uses an aerial connection check, full scan and restart. It does not instruct you to erase the receiver or apply settings from another iQ model.
