Original Iridium GO! app connects but calls fail

Check satellite registration, the active SIM, international dialing and shared-user activity after local app connection succeeds.

Applies to: Original GO! voice calls through its smartphone app. Not GO! exec, direct-to-cell service or ordinary smartphone dialer calls over a cellular network.

Work through these checks

  1. Check the antenna and network status

Place the unit safely outside with an unobstructed sky view and raise its swivel antenna upright. Wait for startup and network registration. Read the unit’s signal and exact status, not only the phone’s Wi-Fi icon. Do not climb, force the hinge or modify an external antenna kit.

What the result means: If the app alone is disconnected, use the separate Wi-Fi guide first.

  2. Confirm service and shared use

Ask the provider to confirm the SIM is active for original GO!, with valid airtime and calling entitlement. Five phones may be connected locally, but only one user can call or use data at a time. Coordinate with other users and end their ordinary session before testing. Do not guess SIM PIN or PUK codes or change emergency settings.

What the result means: Wi-Fi or GPS alone does not confirm an active voice subscription.

  3. Place one correctly formatted routine call

Use Call inside the original GO! app. Enter + or 00, the destination country code and the number in the format your provider requires. Stored local contacts may need the international prefix. If one number fails, record the exact error and compare a second consenting contact rather than repeatedly dialing. Check that the intended incoming number is supplied by your provider; callers may face international charges or carrier restrictions.

What the result means: A failed call to one destination does not prove a broken radio.

When to stop and get help

If registration or routine calls still fail, give the provider the exact status and account context. Do not attempt a firmware change or factory reset as an unsourced shortcut. Never test emergency response by placing an SOS call.

What to tell support

Record sky conditions, signal/registration message, app/device versions, whether other users were active, and the dial format without publishing the contact’s number. Note whether incoming and outgoing calls differ.

Common questions

Can two connected phones call simultaneously?

The manufacturer setup guide allows five local devices but only one calling or data user at a time. A second user must wait.
