Applies to: Freesat Recordable 4K TV Box only; not the non-recordable 4K box.
Match your symptom
| What you see | What to do next |
|---|---|
| Conflict with several programmes | Check LNB and active recording count. |
| One channel repeatedly fails | Check live reception and channel list first. |
| Low-space warning | Review saved recordings and Keep settings. |
Work through these checks
Confirm box and symptom
Read the box label and the recording schedule. Note whether the failed programme was a one-off, series recording or simultaneous with others.
What the result means: A single failed channel points to a different path than several overlapping recordings.
Compare the LNB recording limit
The Freesat guide lists different limits for one standard cable, two standard or hybrid cables, and wideband LNB. With wideband, up to four can record while watching a recording, or three while watching a different live channel. With two standard or hybrid cables, up to two can record while watching a recording, or one while watching another live channel. A single standard cable allows one recording while watching that channel or a recording.
What the result means: A conflict within the documented limit needs another check; a request beyond it is an equipment limit.
Check space and reception
For low space, review stored programmes and the Keep option; delete only recordings you choose. If one channel fails, check it live and follow Freesat channel-scan help. If wideband capacity seems wrong, Freesat advises a powered-off check of accessible cable connections, a channel scan, then a reboot. Leave outdoor or communal equipment to an installer.
What the result means: If the problem persists, keep the error and schedule for Freesat support.
When to stop and get help
Do not open the box, reset it to factory settings, climb to the dish or change a communal LNB. Ask Freesat or an installer about persistent recording failures.
What to tell support
Box model, LNB type, connected cable count, exact programme times, warning, free-space state and live-channel result.
Common questions
Why can I not record four and watch a fifth?
Freesat says a wideband setup can record four while you watch one of those channels or a saved recording, but not a fifth different live channel.
Will a factory reset clear the fault?
Do not use it as a first check. The manual warns that factory reset removes recordings and settings.
