Satellite TV / Detailed guide

Openview only shows channel 100, E04 or E06

Separate activation from missing signal, verify your own STB number and follow the provider’s error-clearing route.

Applies to: Openview satellite television in South Africa, including OV512/KSTB6168 where the displayed activation screen matches. This is for a decoder that has finished its installed-channel scan and can show channel 100, or one displaying an authorization error. It is not DStv smart-card pairing, +More Wi-Fi setup or permission to receive Openview abroad.

What you seeWhat to do next
Only channel 100 or authorization errorLeave the installed receiver on channel 100. Press HELP, read the STB number on its help screen and write it down privately, then EXIT back to channel 100. Use the number from this receiver, not the carton of another unit or a neighbor’s account. Do not post the full STB identifier publicly. If HELP never displays, check the TV input and matching remote before attempting an activation transaction.
No Signal / E52 insteadDo not pull out a supposed smart card, reset the receiver or change LNB/SATCR settings to clear an authorization message. Do not disconnect powered coax or climb. If channel 100 and the receiver menu are both absent, or reception needs physical work, use the matching reception guide and Openview’s local installer route. Stop for damaged wiring, moisture or overheating.

Work through these checks

  1. Classify the displayed error

A watchable channel 100 with the normal menu points first to activation, not an instruction to move the dish. Openview groups E04, E06, 20, 200, 206 and 69 under its reactivation/error-clearing path. No Signal, E52 or a missing satellite belongs to reception checks instead. Write the exact error down: similar-looking numbers are not interchangeable, and clearing authorization cannot repair an absent RF signal.

What the result means: Do not use an account refresh as a substitute for a missing reception path.

  2. Read the matching STB number

Leave the installed receiver on channel 100.

What the result means: Keep identifiers out of public screenshots.

  3. Follow the official activation or clear-error path

Use the official mobile instructions shown on the receiver and current Openview support. The published route is *120*6843*1#. For an existing decoder’s listed authorization error, Openview specifies option 2 to clear errors, then following the prompts. A new decoder needs its own activation flow and STB number. Cellular service charges may apply; if the menu differs, times out or rejects the number, save the message and use official support instead of guessing options or paying someone for a supposed unlock code.

What the result means: Read prompts before confirming; do not select unrelated PIN or account changes.

  4. Allow completion and test another channel

Keep the decoder powered while activation completes. Openview’s activation sheet allows up to five minutes for channels to appear and notes that the receiver may reboot or update automatically. Once it finishes, try P+ or P− to move beyond channel 100. If the same error remains, record it and the activation response rather than restarting the process repeatedly. Satellite channels restored but +More still failing is the separate network issue covered by the Wi-Fi guide.

What the result means: Preserve the automatic update and note any persistent error.

When to stop and get help

Do not pull out a supposed smart card, reset the receiver or change LNB/SATCR settings to clear an authorization message. Do not disconnect powered coax or climb. If channel 100 and the receiver menu are both absent, or reception needs physical work, use the matching reception guide and Openview’s local installer route. Stop for damaged wiring, moisture or overheating.

What to tell support

Keep the exact error, model, whether channel 100 plays, the activation response and the time allowed. Keep the STB number private for official support.

Common questions

Should I replace a card for E06?

Follow Openview’s own error-clearing instructions first. Do not apply another provider’s smart-card procedure or open the receiver because the error text mentions authorization.

Will activation also fix +More Wi-Fi?

Not automatically. A restored satellite channel and a working home-internet connection are separate requirements; use the model’s +More guide if streaming alone still fails.
