Applies to: Australia: an existing Activ8me nbn Sky Muster installation. This is not a fibre, fixed-wireless, Opticomm or Starlink setup guide. Router menus and assigned ports vary; preserve the installation and ask Activ8me when uncertain.
Match your symptom
| What you see | What to do next |
|---|---|
| Only Wi-Fi fails | If a wired computer works through the router, check the intended Wi-Fi network, distance and router instructions. This does not establish a dish fault. |
| Wired and Wi-Fi both fail | Check current disruptions, the installed Ethernet path and connection-box lights. Escalate the collected evidence rather than repeatedly resetting equipment. |
Work through these checks
Confirm the service and check disruptions
Verify the Sky Muster service on your account or installation paperwork. Open Activ8me’s network-disruption page, using mobile data if the home connection is down. Match any published notice to your service and area. If the page only shows a loading message, try again or ask support; do not record “no outage” from an unloaded page.
What the result means: An applicable outage is a provider recovery issue; an unreadable page leaves the status unknown.
Trace the assigned Ethernet connection
Activ8me’s connection guide illustrates UNI-D 1 on the satellite box connected to the router WAN. Preserve the port assigned to your actual installation; its guide says to contact support if UNI-D 1 is already occupied. Do not unplug another service or move through ports at random. Check accessible Ethernet plugs are seated and the router end is WAN, not a LAN socket.
What the result means: If the correct port cannot be confirmed, stop here and ask Activ8me to identify it.
Compare one wired device with Wi-Fi
Connect a computer to a router LAN port if it supports Ethernet. Keep the satellite-box-to-WAN cable in place. Try more than one ordinary website, then compare with a device on your own Wi-Fi. A Wi-Fi network name appearing does not prove upstream internet works. Do not change service credentials, DNS or the router’s factory settings just to perform this comparison.
What the result means: Wired works: focus on Wi-Fi. Both fail: send the observed status and connection path to support.
When to stop and get help
Stop for damaged power leads, liquid, sparks or burning smell. Do not open the satellite box, move the dish or disconnect its satellite coax. Contact Activ8me for outdoor equipment, persistent connection-box faults or uncertain service-port assignments.
What to tell support
Record the time, lights, assigned port, wired/Wi-Fi comparison and the precise status-page message. Share account details privately with official support; do not post passwords or your home address in feedback.
Common questions
Does every UNI-D port provide internet?
Do not assume so. Use the assigned service port. Activ8me’s example uses UNI-D 1 and directs users with an occupied port to support, rather than promising that another socket is active.
Should I use the fibre router setup instructions?
Not merely because Activ8me supplies both services. Match the service and exact router. The connection guide’s older router-login examples are not universal credentials for your present equipment.
