Starlink Mini offline: power, Wi-Fi and app checks

A safe checklist for the original Starlink Mini when Wi-Fi disappears or the internet is unavailable.

Applies to: Original Starlink Mini with integrated Wi-Fi. Check the product label: Router Mini and Mini X are different products.

Mini Wi-Fi network is missingCheck the rear light and supplied power path before investigating satellite reception.
Wi-Fi works, but internet does notRead the exact Starlink app alert: outage, searching, obstruction and offline states need different next steps.

Work through these checks

  1. Identify the Mini and app status

Confirm the label says Starlink Mini. Connect a phone to its Wi-Fi if available, open the Starlink app and record the precise alert. An outage or obstruction warning is different from no power.

What the result means: Follow the app’s specific outage or obstruction guidance if shown.

  2. Check power without substituting a charger

A slow-blinking rear light shows the Mini has power; no light calls for checking the outlet and supplied connections. If using USB-C power, follow Starlink’s Mini power specifications; an ordinary phone charger may not meet them. Do not handle wet or damaged cables.

What the result means: Power alone does not prove internet service. Recheck the app after power is restored.

  3. Inspect the safe, accessible cable path

Check the Mini power plug and any reachable connector for a loose fit or visible damage. Keep the Mini Ethernet port weather-sealed as Starlink instructs; do not replace its cable with an unsealed improvised connection. Observe the dish from safe ground only.

What the result means: Stop if a connector is wet or damaged; use Starlink support for replacement advice.

  4. Restart once, then retest

If the cables are safe and the app shows no wider outage, use Starlink’s power-cycle instructions once. Let the Mini start, then test the same device and website and check the app status again. Do not repeatedly unplug it during boot.

What the result means: If the alert changes, record the new wording before taking another step.

When to stop and get help

Do not climb to move the Mini, handle wet power equipment or force connectors. Factory reset erases Wi-Fi settings; use Starlink’s exact Mini instructions only if you are ready to set up Wi-Fi again. If the checks fail, contact Starlink support with the app alert. U.S. visitors who need safe in-person help can use our technician request page.

What to tell support

Mini model label; exact app status and alerts; whether Wi-Fi appears; rear light; power source; recent weather or cable changes; result after one restart.

Common questions

Does a blinking light mean the internet works?

No. Starlink describes slow blinking as powered on. Check connectivity and alerts separately in the app.

Can I use a phone charger?

Only use a power setup that meets Starlink’s Mini specifications. A charger that fits the port is not necessarily adequate.
