Astro Ultra / Ulti remote: TV volume and power not working

Separate TV synchronization, remote batteries and receiver response before replacing an Astro remote.

Applies to: Malaysia Astro Ultra/Ulti remotes using the documented Remote Control Settings menu. Older Astro remotes can need another procedure.

What you seeWhat to do next
Only TV commands failWith the receiver working, press HOME, open Settings, then Remote Control Settings and press OK. Follow the television synchronization prompts shown by your box. Use your actual TV brand/model; stop if the menu or remote differs instead of trying random codes.
Astro menus do not respondIdentify the remote supplied for Ultra/Ulti. The edition-A Ultra guide specifies two AAA batteries; follow the compartment markings and replace the pair together. Avoid mixing battery types. A hot remote, leakage or corroded contacts needs safe handling, not more button tests.

Work through these checks

  1. Identify power and command scope

Try HOME or channel navigation, then compare TV volume/power with the original television remote. If Astro menus respond but only the TV commands fail, begin with TV synchronization rather than satellite reception. If neither responds, check receiver power and remote batteries first.

What the result means: Identify the remote supplied for Ultra/Ulti. The edition-A Ultra guide specifies two AAA batteries; follow the compartment markings and replace the pair together. Avoid mixing battery types. A hot remote, leakage or corroded contacts needs safe handling, not more button tests.

  2. Use on-screen TV synchronization

With the receiver working, press HOME, open Settings, then Remote Control Settings and press OK. Follow the television synchronization prompts shown by your box. Use your actual TV brand/model; stop if the menu or remote differs instead of trying random codes.

What the result means: Test one TV command and one Astro menu command after setup. Keep the original TV remote available. Success with TV volume does not prove voice control or receiver pairing works; report exactly which function fails. Do not erase all remote settings or factory-reset the box as the first response.

  3. Verify separate functions

Test one TV command and one Astro menu command after setup. Keep the original TV remote available. Success with TV volume does not prove voice control or receiver pairing works; report exactly which function fails. Do not erase all remote settings or factory-reset the box as the first response.

What the result means: Persistent failure needs the correct remote/TV compatibility check, not a new satellite receiver assumption.

When to stop and get help

Do not open the box or change dish/LNB settings for a TV-volume fault. Stop for electrical damage or unsafe access. Ask Astro for the correct remote if the supplied hardware does not match.

What to tell support

Save box model, remote identity, TV brand/model and whether HOME, channels, volume and power work. Share account details only through private Astro support.

Common questions

Does this repair missing satellite channels?

No. TV command synchronization is separate from SCNA reception, account authorization and broadband faults. Use the matching symptom guide.
