Oceana 400: lamp codes, USB data and timed shutdown

Read the original OC400 three-lamp error table and separate USB data occupancy from the documented accessory-power shutdown delay.

Applies to: Original BEAM Oceana 400 (OC400), covered by the shared Terra 400/Oceana 400 manual USRMAN005805, revision 04, April 2013. The manual distinguishes the maritime active-antenna OC400 from the passive-antenna TR400. This is not Oceana 800, an IsatDock handset cradle or evidence of current FleetPhone activation, software support or service coverage.

Work through these checks

  1. Separate registration from a coded error

Photograph the three lamps simultaneously. A steady SIGNAL is registered; flashing is not registered. If SIGNAL cycles green/yellow/red, read CALL and MSG together using page 25: red/off means GPS antenna power error, off/red means SAT antenna power error, and red/red means system error. Green/green requires SIM PIN, off/green requires PUK, red/green is SIM locked and green/red is wrong SIM type. These are observations for support, not instructions to unplug antennas, open the unit or enter codes. All lamps steady yellow is firmware-upgrade mode; all flashing green is USB Bridge mode. Do not interrupt an active update.

What the result means: Support receives a registration state or exact coded branch instead of a generic red-light report.

  2. Distinguish an occupied call path from timed shutdown

Use the existing CALL state and activity record; do not start a test call. Page 23 distinguishes steady green POTS off-hook from flashing green voice call, and steady yellow data-port DTR from flashing yellow data call. Page 24 says POTS voice cannot be made or received during circuit-switched USB data. Describe any unavailable tone and whether data was already active. For shutdown, page 20 documents a default 20-minute delay after the accessory input turns off; if a call is in progress, the delay runs after the call ends. Compare recorded times with the installed configuration through support. Rapid unexplained cycling is not established as that normal delay; do not bridge wires or change Falcon power modes.

What the result means: The handoff separates unavailable voice during data, an expected configured delay and an unexplained restart pattern.

When to stop and get help

Stop for heat, smell, water ingress or damaged power/RF cabling. Antenna access, installation, isolated-power RF work and power-harness changes belong to qualified personnel. Do not guess PIN/PUK codes, change Falcon settings, install old drivers, force firmware modes or place paid/emergency test calls for this check.

What to tell support

Send authorised support the OC400 label, manual revision, simultaneous three-lamp photograph, exact tone description, existing USB voice/data activity and symptom timestamps. For a cycling SIGNAL include both CALL and MSG colours, including an unlit lamp. Add accessory-off and call-end times if shutdown is the concern; do not publish SIM/account identifiers.
