SAILOR 250/500: one computer offline and event evidence

Two computers on the same terminal can belong to different network user groups. Compare the affected device’s visible data profile with active events and historical logs before changing the terminal. Preserve a completed diagnostic report for the distributor.

Applies to: SAILOR 250 and SAILOR500 FleetBroadband, including the 19-inch rack version explicitly covered by user manual98-125645-H (October31 2013). Match installed firmware and hardware. This shared original manual does not make250/500 units interchangeable and does not cover SAILOR150 or Fleet One. Installation manual98-125646-G is a separate professional reference.

Work through these checks

  1. Compare the affected computer’s group

The manual assigns network user groups through LAN port, IP address or MAC address. A non-administrator sees only profiles available to their group. Record the affected device and installed LAN port alongside what that device sees; a working neighboring computer does not prove identical access rights. Do not move ports or alter mappings to bypass the policy.

  2. Read profile state without starting it

In the matching Dashboard, Start followed by a profile name means it is ready to activate; Stop followed by a name means it is active. Standard and Streaming profiles appear separately. Record the names and states as displayed. Automatic activation depends on administrator configuration, so do not diagnose missing internet solely from terminal readiness or click a paid session to test it.

  3. Separate active events from history

HELPDESK > Event list contains currently active events; Event log also includes past events and informational operating phases. Preserve each relevant ID, severity, first-occurrence time and complete text. A historical entry is not automatically a current fault, and an empty active list does not erase a past interruption. Compare both with the time of the reported failure.

  4. Save a completed diagnostic report

Use HELP DESK > Generate report with authorized access. The manual warns that the report can open while still being generated: wait for completion before saving the file. Preserve it privately with the model, firmware, affected computer/group and event timeline for the distributor. A report request is different from initiating a hardware self-test or resetting the terminal.

When to stop and get help

Use authorized local access, preserving vessel communications, administrator policies and radio silence. Do not start paid Standard/Streaming sessions, change groups, guess PINs, clear logs, reset or run a self-test for these observations. Keep reports and identifiers private. Antenna work, hardware faults and safety-system questions need qualified marine support.
