Plaza HD-S: picture, signal lock and channel lists

Read the original v1.7 Information screen and distinguish TV-output, satellite-reception and separately stored non-Freesat channel problems without a destructive reinstall.

Applies to: Manhattan Plaza HD-S receiver, original user guide marked v1.7 on the back cover. This is not the recording model Plaza HDR-S, DS-100A or SX. No publication date is printed in the identified revision. Old channel numbers, catch-up services, social accounts and support numbers are historical; this page does not promise those services still work.

Work through these checks

  1. Locate the TV-side failure

With the TV and receiver already in use, note whether MENU is visible on the selected input. The original fault table separates no setup screen, no picture/sound and HDMI-only picture failure. Record the selected HDMI/SCART path and current symptom. SCART is standard definition even for an HD channel; an external recorder is a separate endpoint. Do not begin a factory reset to solve a missing TV input.

  2. Read signal evidence and identity

Open MENU, select General and Information, then record model, hardware/software and Signal Lock, Strength and Quality. Keep the exact on-screen failure and affected channel with the readings. The fault table sends failed lock or no signal toward dish/cable inspection, but that is an installer branch, not permission to climb or adjust the dish. A local IP address on this page is a separate network observation, not satellite lock or proof that a retired catch-up app should work.

  3. Check the existing channel context

Record whether the current channel/list is Freesat or non-Freesat before searching again. The original stores them separately; on a non-Freesat channel the information bar uses the Manhattan logo instead of Freesat. Four-digit non-Freesat numbers cannot be entered while watching a Freesat channel, and a non-Freesat programme has no ordinary Freesat guide information. Those distinctions explain some missing-channel reports without deleting, rescanning or rebuilding the existing lists.

When to stop and get help

Stop for damage, moisture or unsafe connections; keep the case closed and leave dish work to a qualified installer. Do not use Restore Factory Default as a diagnostic shortcut: it deletes channels, favourites, favourite-list names and receiver configuration. Freesat Installation also changes list membership, locks and deleted channels. No unverified USB firmware or HDCP workaround is proposed here.

What to tell support

Keep model and software identity, existing HDMI/SCART route, menu visibility, exact message, Signal Lock/Strength/Quality, time and affected channel. Record whether the Freesat or non-Freesat list was active. Share postcode and network details only privately with authorised support.
