Work through these checks
Separate registration from phone communication
Read the exact STATUS pattern, not color alone. Green plus “Inmarsat” on the handset supports registration. Steady red leads to coverage/clear antenna-view observations; preserve the screen and ask the provider or installer about persistent failure. Alternating red/blue is communication with the docked IsatPhone Pro, so record that error and the handset identity for the installer instead of buying a satellite antenna. Do not remove the phone during an active call.
If registered, check the intended audio route
For a call that already connects but the other party cannot hear, read MUTE: red means outgoing audio muted; flashing yellow identifies RJ11/POTS use. Check that an unused privacy handset rests in its cup and compare SPEAKER green with the intended speakerphone route. Lifting the privacy handset routes audio to it. Record whether the fault affects one endpoint or every endpoint; a connected call with one muted route is different from no network registration. Avoid repeated chargeable test calls.
Capture timed shutdowns and physical symptoms separately
If both dock and phone turn off at approximately twenty minutes, record elapsed time and whether the vessel’s accessory/ignition state changed. The original FAQ describes a default twenty-minute sleep behavior when that input is absent or grounded; this is an installer configuration/power branch, not an instruction to bridge wires. Repeated rapid cycling is a different symptom. Give the installer the existing supply identity and observations, leaving powered connectors, antenna cable repairs and reconfiguration untouched.
When to stop and get help
Stop for damaged equipment, unsafe antenna access or unknown credentials. Do not open the dock, alter powered RF or vessel wiring, trigger alerts or place emergency test calls. Leave removal/reseating and ignition/power diagnosis to the installer with power safely isolated.
What to tell support
Privately retain dock/phone identity, software, installed antenna/cable and supply identifiers, exact STATUS/MUTE/SPEAKER patterns, handset message, affected audio endpoint, timing and environmental obstruction. Preserve alert destinations and tracking configuration; do not publish account identifiers or keys.
