Applies to: BEAM DriveDOCK Extreme EXTRMDD for the Extreme handset, USRMAN007107 Rev07, April 2017. Not PotsDOCK, IsatDock or a standalone satellite transceiver. Match the installed handset and accessories; this historical manual does not establish current service or other handset compatibility.
Work through these checks
Identify the active installed audio path
Compare the previous failure with the installed speaker/microphone and any Privacy or Intelligent handset. Page 24 makes handsfree the default unless another endpoint is enabled; pages 37–40 describe audio moving to an optional handset when removed from its cup. Slow orange Ring identifies either handset in use. For the documented transfer from an existing handsfree call to that handset, returning it to its cup restores handsfree without hanging up. Do not start a call or move handsets solely to reproduce a fault.
What the result means: Audio heard at one endpoint but not another narrows the local branch to investigate. Orange Ring does not distinguish Privacy from Intelligent by itself; name the installed accessory instead of assuming that all silent speakers mean lost satellite service.
Separate Bluetooth connected from active-call audio
This cradle has its own Bluetooth voice module. Compare the previous observation with the front Bluetooth button: solid blue is connected to a paired device, slow blue is use in a call, fast blue searches paired devices and blue/orange alternating is discovery. Use the correct labeled button; fast blue on Ring can instead be ring-tone playback. Do not enter pairing, clear devices or press the headset call key to reproduce a problem.
What the result means: A connected headset and a headset carrying the call are different states. Preserve which local endpoint actually carried audio rather than treating a blue light as proof of successful satellite speech.
Interpret Mute in the original call direction
Page 41 limits Mute to an ongoing call and says it exits when the call ends. Red on the labeled Mute button suppresses uplink audio from handsfree, Bluetooth or Privacy. Compare whether the distant party could hear you versus whether you could hear them; do not treat today’s idle unlit button as proof about yesterday’s call. Ring-tone preview is a separate local sound and cannot validate microphone speech. If your own ordinary call is already connected and you want to restore your uplink, page 41 says one press of Mute exits mute. Do not start a call for this check.
What the result means: The useful support distinction is endpoint plus audio direction plus the Mute state at the same time. A one-way symptom is not automatically an antenna fault, and a later idle display cannot recover missing call-time evidence.
When to stop and get help
Stop if diagnosis would need a new paid call, reconnecting or replacing accessories, mounting or wiring work, pairing/deleting devices or changing Eagle configuration. Ordinary documented handset selection and clearing your own Mute during an existing call are different from those interventions. If the local checks do not explain the fault, preserve the working path and give the observations to qualified support.
What to tell support
Record EXTRMDD and USRMAN007107 Rev07, handset identity, installed speaker/microphone and optional audio accessories. For the original failure time, distinguish Ring, Bluetooth and Mute labels, colors and flashing rates; note which endpoint was active and which party could hear. Separate ringing from speech and connected Bluetooth from use in a call. Keep phone numbers, device identifiers and account details private.
