Work through these checks
Identify the named STATUS evidence
Compare the original phone screen with the named STATUS lamp. Page 26 separates steady green registration, steady red no registration/signal, flashing green ongoing call and alternating red/blue phone-link error. Do not interpret a red MUTE or TRACK lamp as the red STATUS branch. Retain exact names and patterns rather than describing every light simply as red.
What the result means: Registration readiness, call activity and dock communication identify different stages. None alone proves that both audio directions reached the other party.
Reconstruct the existing audio route
Page 17 describes handsfree speaker/microphone as the default unless privacy audio is enabled. For a call already in handsfree mode, pages 22–23 say lifting the optional privacy handset redirects audio there and returning it restores handsfree. This is not the separate privacy-handset incoming-call termination procedure. Record its position during the original event without lifting or replacing it now. Phone Bluetooth is supported, but this revision does not justify assuming a universal priority between every accessory.
What the result means: The expected sound may belong to a different installed endpoint. Missing sound from one speaker does not alone identify an unsuccessful satellite call or a broken antenna.
Separate muted speech, echo and computer data
Page 23 says MUTE can suppress the privacy handset and/or external handsfree microphone uplink. Compare the already observed red MUTE with which party could hear, without toggling it. Note echo or background noise separately for the installer’s speaker/microphone assessment. Micro USB data is another path; this revision lists XP SP3, Vista and Windows 7 drivers, not a modern-computer guarantee.
What the result means: Support receives the affected direction and endpoint, not an unsupported diagnosis that every audio or USB symptom is lost registration. Preserve the working path while the faulty branch is assessed.
When to stop and get help
Do not place calls, transfer audio, toggle mute, pair Bluetooth, redock, send tracking/alert messages, install software or change vehicle/RF wiring for diagnosis. Leave equipment faults and antenna work to qualified service. Keep any active safety or communications system intact.
What to tell support
Privately record the original call time, phone/dock identity, named lamp and pattern, phone network text, audio endpoint, cup position and which party could hear. Distinguish echo, missing incoming sound and missing outgoing speech without sharing numbers or conversation content.
