Applies to: PotsDOCK Extreme EXTRMPD, original USRMAN007307 Revision 07, August 2018, with the Iridium Extreme handset. Not PotsDOCK 9555 or DriveDOCK Extreme. This edition does not establish current PTT, driver, airtime or replacement compatibility.
Work through these checks
Separate registration from a connected call
Read STATUS with the handset’s existing text. Steady green means registered; slow green indicates a voice call. Red alone does not distinguish no signal, no registration and no SIM. Record the original stage and any other red lamps rather than diagnosing the account or audio from one colour.
What the result means: An unregistered terminal and an established call with missing audio need different evidence. Preserve the original state for the next comparison.
Identify whether privacy use disabled POTS
For the original unavailable-tone report, identify the endpoint already used. When the privacy handset originates or answers a call, RJ11/POTS is disabled and an off-hook POTS phone hears an unavailable tone. Slow orange Ring can mean either privacy or POTS in use. Returning the privacy handset to its cup does not hang up that call. Observe these states without lifting another phone to provoke them.
What the result means: A locally disabled POTS endpoint is not proof of failed satellite registration or a broken analogue phone. Keep the endpoint and call chronology together.
Read Bluetooth and Mute in call context
Solid blue Bluetooth means connected to a paired device; slow blue means that device is in a call, while fast blue searches for a paired device. Red Mute suppresses outgoing audio during a call and ends with the call. Out of call, ringer and volume controls have different roles. Use the actual endpoint and whether outgoing or incoming speech failed; keep pairings and current audio routing unchanged.
What the result means: A connected Bluetooth device need not be the active audio path, and one-way muted speech does not establish a satellite outage. Report the named lamp and endpoint rather than pairing again or replacing hardware.
When to stop and get help
Leave RF, electrical wiring, antenna work and configuration changes to qualified service. Do not create a call, data session or tracking/alert transmission for this check. Do not reset pairings, undock an active call or interrupt a working endpoint merely to reproduce the fault.
What to tell support
Privately retain dock/handset identity, original call time, named lamp colours and patterns, handset message, POTS/privacy/Bluetooth endpoint, privacy-cup position and direction of missing speech. State what was already observed; keep numbers and conversation contents private.
