Applies to: Original HUMAX HDR-1000S Freesat+ with Freetime, using the manufacturer-authored guide hosted by Argos. Its production sheet identifies document 20000-00566, revision 400 dated 19 August 2014. Those are document details, not disk capacity or a hardware part number. Not HDR-1100S or FOXSAT-HDR; historical internet services and present support are not promised.
Work through these checks
Distinguish the schedule from the stored library
Open Recordings and inspect the existing title and icon. The manual separates programmes set to record from programmes already recorded. For stored programmes, inspect A-Z, Latest and Still to watch, and the series grouping before calling an episode missing. Do not cancel a reservation or remove a library entry.
What the result means: A title visible in a different view or series group is a library-location finding. A scheduled or failed entry without a stored episode is a different case to preserve for the next checks.
Read space and existing protection
Read the space bar at the top of Recordings and the existing kept and deleting soon folders or icons. This edition describes automatic removal of the oldest recording when new recordings need space, and separate protection for kept programmes. HD uses more space than SD. Record these states before cleanup; do not remove protection or delete a file to test the disk.
What the result means: Low space and a deleting-soon marker support a storage-management question; they do not prove hardware failure. A missing kept recording needs separate support review rather than an assumption that routine automatic deletion explains it.
Check the original overlap and source type
Compare the original times with other reservations and the known feed count. The manual’s simultaneous recording features require two dish cables; a single-feed installation lacks those features. Its conflict prompt can suggest another broadcast, but keep existing reservations unchanged while diagnosing. An On Demand programme is expressly not available to record in this edition; distinguish it from a satellite broadcast.
What the result means: An overlap beyond the documented feed capability or an internet-only programme explains a different limitation from a failed ordinary satellite recording with sufficient space. Preserve the exact failure icon and times for qualified support if neither distinction accounts for the symptom.
When to stop and get help
Preserve recordings and reservations. Do not delete, format, factory-reset, replace the disk or retune as a diagnostic shortcut. Viewing the library and schedule is appropriate; leave an active recording undisturbed. Stop for damaged equipment and seek qualified support if a protected recording is missing or recording failures persist.
What to tell support
Keep a private record of model, title and episode, scheduled time, exact icon, library view or series folder, free-space bar, kept/deleting-soon state, overlapping programmes and known feed count. Include the original error text without posting account or household details.
