| Live channel also fails | Use the reception or card guide first; storage does not restore live viewing rights. |
| Instant recording fails | Check storage detection, free space, supported formatting and power. |
| Instant recording works; timer fails | Inspect the saved timer’s type, date, time, duration and channel. |
Work through these checks
Confirm live reception and card access
Watch the intended channel normally before testing recording. Record its exact error if viewing fails. A missing signal or expired TNTSAT card must be addressed separately; do not format storage to solve it.
What the result means: Live viewing works: continue. Otherwise use the linked signal/card guides.
Check storage without erasing it
Read the connected drive’s format and available space using a safe supported method. STRONG specifies FAT32, recommends external drive power and notes compatibility is not universal; the manual also requires sufficient free space and fast storage for HD. If incompatible, preserve files and ask STRONG before reformatting or buying.
What the result means: Unknown format or intermittent detection: stop before modifying the only copy.
Make one short recording and play it back
With compatible storage connected and a working channel selected, press REC (record symbol), then STOP after a short test. REC again opens duration entry. Open Menu > Avancé > Explorateur fichier, select the new item in DVR and press OK. Use the record/stop symbols, not number keys 4 and 3.
What the result means: Instant recording/playback succeeds: check the timer. Fails: note write/playback error for STRONG before deleting files.
Inspect the saved scheduled recording
Open Menu > Avancé > Programmateur. Check Programme type is Recording, not Playback/Standby/Startup, and verify cycle, date, start time, duration and channel. Save with the red button as documented. Keep power, antenna and storage connected and follow STRONG’s standby instruction for the timer.
What the result means: Reopen the saved entry to confirm it, then try one short future recording. Persistent failure needs the exact timer and error details.
When to stop and get help
Stop for a hot or damaged drive, lost files, repeated storage errors or any prompt to erase your only copy. Do not open the receiver, use guessed firmware or factory-reset to recover recordings. Contact STRONG with the drive and error details.
What to tell support
Receiver model/software, drive model, external power, format, free space, live-viewing result, instant-test result and saved timer/error. Keep card/serial details private.
Common questions
Should I format first?
No. Formatting can erase recordings and other files. Preserve them and establish incompatibility before considering it with support.
Can any USB drive work?
STRONG does not guarantee every device. Check this model’s current support requirements rather than another receiver’s limits or a seller’s generic claim.
