Applies to: SatSleeve Hotspot only, following the original multilingual guide with a 2015 copyright and no confirmed separate printed revision. The Hotspot uses its stand and a separate smartphone over Wi-Fi. SatSleeve+, earlier iPhone/Android SatSleeves and their physical arrangements are outside this model page. Historical app instructions do not establish current phone/OS, store availability, coverage or activation eligibility.
Work through these checks
Separate the existing app link from satellite readiness
Read the phone’s current Wi-Fi association and the existing Hotspot app, without joining another network or restoring a default password. SAT0000000 is only the manual’s example name; an installed SSID can differ. In Home, keep network name, signal/HPA and Receiving GPS-fix separate from that Wi-Fi association. The original requires GPS location before satellite connection and notes that acquisition in a new location may take several minutes.
What the result means: A local app link without satellite/GPS readiness is a different branch from an app that cannot communicate with the unit. Record which layer is actually visible instead of resetting both.
Interpret the original silent or interrupted call
Use the already observed call and phone log. The original troubleshooting table says an inactive Hotspot app gives a vibration alert for incoming calls/messages instead of the app’s ringtone. It also says incoming GSM or 3G calls take priority and drop an ongoing satellite call. These are historical app behaviours, not proof of current OS behaviour. Keep the timing, app state and coincident cellular event; do not place a call or change cellular settings to reproduce it.
What the result means: An alert-mode or coincident cellular-priority finding differs from absent satellite registration or a local Wi-Fi loss. Preserve that distinction for support; it does not certify that a current phone/app combination is supported.
Read the existing data state and intended device
For the original data failure, record whether Home shows GmPRS initiated or GmPRS active. Read the existing Satellite Data device selection only if already accessible: the manual separates the phone’s own MAC from an Other device entry. Compare it with the owner’s known intended device without selecting My MAC address, changing fields or enabling data. Advanced information also supplies IMEI, app and firmware versions; read those without entering PIN, reset or security changes.
What the result means: Report whether the issue is local app access, satellite readiness, voice-alert priority or an existing data/device-state mismatch. An active GmPRS icon is not a promise that every modern app works; preserve the specific original application error without generating new traffic.
When to stop and get help
Stop before app reinstall, network/password/security changes, PIN/SIM work, data activation, factory reset or firmware changes. Leave SOS outside troubleshooting. Do not disable cellular service or generate calls/data to test the historical priority rule; current app/device support belongs with the manufacturer or provider.
What to tell support
Keep the original time, phone/OS and app/firmware versions, owner-known SSID, Home network/GPS/GmPRS labels and whether an incoming cellular call coincided with the satellite interruption. Record the existing intended data device privately; MAC, IMEI, location and phone numbers should not appear in public screenshots.
