DISH 60 remote: pairing, volume and voice fixes

Use the 60-series microphone pairing button, then set up TV control separately. Check internet only when voice is the problem.

Applies to: DISH 60/60.0 Simplified Voice Remote. Older 54/52 remotes use different pairing buttons; do not apply this microphone pairing step to every DISH remote.

Channels failCheck batteries and receiver pairing.
Volume alone failsUse TV pairing; this is separate from receiver pairing.

Work through these checks

  1. Identify and power the remote

Confirm the 60-series layout and install two AA batteries following the compartment diagram. Check that the receiver and TV are on and the TV uses the connected input. A visible receiver menu is useful for confirming the display path.

What the result means: Do not change the dish or satellite wiring for a remote-control symptom.

  2. Pair with the receiver

Press SYS INFO on the receiver, then press the microphone button on the 60 remote. Listen for three beeps and test navigation or channel selection. DISH identifies the top receiver button for Joey 4/Wireless Joey 4. If there is no confirmation, use the provider’s exact receiver help rather than repeated factory resets.

What the result means: Pairing to a receiver does not program the TV’s volume.

  3. Run the TV wizard

On Hopper 3, older Hopper/Joey or Wally, press Home twice → Remote Control → TV and follow the wizard. On Hopper Plus or Joey 4/Wireless Joey 4, use Home → settings gear → DISH settings → Remote control → TV → TV Pairing Wizard. Test both volume and power before accepting a code.

What the result means: Select the actual TV or audio device, not a random brand code.

  4. Separate voice from button faults

Voice requires active internet. If normal buttons work, check the receiver’s internet before replacing the remote. Use Locate Remote on the receiver to find a powered, paired remote. If neither pairing nor fresh batteries helps, ask DISH about a model-compatible replacement.

What the result means: Do not change the dish or satellite wiring for a remote-control symptom.

When to stop and get help

Stop if batteries have leaked, the remote is damaged or hot, or pairing still fails after the model-specific procedure. Contact the provider for a compatible replacement. Do not open the receiver or reset its installation to fix a remote.

What to tell support

Record remote and receiver models, battery type, which functions work (channels, volume, power, voice), and the pairing message or light pattern.

Common questions

Does a remote problem mean signal loss?

No. Check receiver response and TV control separately before troubleshooting satellite reception.
