Applies to: SRT 7006 only. Diagnostic details here follow the English manual printed 15 December 2021. Other original language editions are linked with their own dates; they are not a single shared revision. Do not transfer SRT 7009 software or infer that a historical recording upgrade is still available.
Work through these checks
Separate playback from installed recording support
The manual’s opening warning says the receiver is supplied with multimedia playback, while recording and Timeshift depend on separate recording software. Read the installed version and previously documented upgrade history. A recording section in the manual or a record button on the remote does not identify the software currently installed.
What the result means: If recording support is unconfirmed, treat missing DVR controls as a capability question for STRONG before diagnosing a failed USB disk. This guide does not prescribe or promise an upgrade.
Read the existing booking and recording folder
BLUE opens the existing timer list; view it without using Add, Edit or Delete. Section 7.4.1 describes channel-switch bookings; the recording instructions separately require Mode set to Record. For an existing completed recording, inspect USB > Multimedia > DVR and its HBDVR folder, where applicable. The manual permits OK preview of a selected recording; avoid YELLOW, which marks deletion.
What the result means: A booking is a schedule, not evidence of a saved file. A file in HBDVR establishes that recording data exists, but an incomplete or unplayable file still needs its own error and timing evidence.
Distinguish capacity, device speed and media format
If DVR Configure is available, read its Partitions, Timeshiftsize, Total space and Free space without entering Format. Compare already observed failures: one movie failing while other files play is different from no detected storage. The manual warns that playback depends on codec, bit rate and resolution, and that recording/HD playback needs sufficient storage speed; a listed extension or free space is not a speed test.
What the result means: Report the actual branch: unavailable recording function, booking without a file, undetected storage, full storage or a particular playback error. Preserve the existing contents; formatting cannot recover a missing recording.
When to stop and get help
Do not select Format, delete recordings, install software, reset or rescan. Do not unplug storage during an active write, open the receiver or work on powered satellite cabling.
What to tell support
For support, record model and software version, the original booking’s date/channel/Mode, visible HBDVR filename, storage identity and reported total/free space. Include the exact error and whether other existing media files play; keep personal files private.
