Applies to: JRC JUE-251 / JUE-501 FleetBroadband with the handset/web interface in original manual 7ZPSC0427 linked by JRC World. Preserve the exact installed model and software revision; this shared manual does not establish interchangeable antennas, cables or commissioning settings. The original7ZPSC0427 introduction states BDE-App01.45. Match the installed software before interpreting its menus; the filename date does not prove newer firmware support.

| Read the complete readiness message | Record the full CS/PS readiness text, blockage indication and whether LEDs have been intentionally disabled. A green bar or dark port light alone does not establish which communication service is available. |
| Record the existing blockage indication | Use authorized vessel staff for read-only observations. Preserve SIM, service contracts, blocking areas and port assignments. Do not change vessel course as a troubleshooting experiment, approach a transmitting antenna, open equipment, reset it or trigger a distress call. Work through these checks
Read the complete readiness message
Section 3.4.1 distinguishes CS READY (circuit service), PS READY (packet service) and CS PS READY (both). REGISTERING follows the satellite search; SEARCH NG records unsuccessful search. Save the exact text and the application that fails. Do not interpret readiness for one service as proof that every voice/data application is working.
What the result means: Record the full CS/PS readiness text, blockage indication and whether LEDs have been intentionally disabled. A green bar or dark port light alone does not establish which communication service is available.
Record the existing blockage indication
Section 7.9.1.9 describes preset mast/funnel blockage areas: the handset’s antenna bars blink, while the web antenna icon changes from green to orange. Record when this appears alongside heading and time already available to the crew. Keep the installed areas unchanged; deleting a blockage indication does not remove the physical obstruction.
What the result means: Use authorized vessel staff for read-only observations. Preserve SIM, service contracts, blocking areas and port assignments. Do not change vessel course as a troubleshooting experiment, approach a transmitting antenna, open equipment, reset it or trigger a distress call. Escalate alarms and persistent registration failure to JRC/service-provider support.
Check whether indicator lights were disabled
Sections 7.9.1.7–7.9.1.8 allow administrators to switch panel and Ethernet LEDs off. Ask the administrator to read those settings and compare actual handset/web access before treating dark lights as a dead terminal or cable. Record current values without applying changes.
What the result means: Record the full CS/PS readiness text, blockage indication and whether LEDs have been intentionally disabled. A green bar or dark port light alone does not establish which communication service is available.
When to stop and get help
Use authorized vessel staff for read-only observations. Preserve SIM, service contracts, blocking areas and port assignments. Do not change vessel course as a troubleshooting experiment, approach a transmitting antenna, open equipment, reset it or trigger a distress call. Escalate alarms and persistent registration failure to JRC/service-provider support.
What to tell support
Record the full CS/PS readiness text, blockage indication and whether LEDs have been intentionally disabled. A green bar or dark port light alone does not establish which communication service is available.
Common questions
Why is the handset busy even when the terminal is ready?
Section5.1.15 says an administrator-disabled outgoing port produces a busy tone when the handset is lifted. AllowedNum and Phonebook policies can also limit destinations. Ask the vessel administrator to inspect the port’s Out Call policy; do not enable it or alter allowed numbers to bypass restrictions. Readiness and permission to dial are separate.
Can a ringing delay be configured deliberately?
Yes. Section5.1.16 provides incoming ringing settings that can delay the connected phone or disable its sound. Record which port is affected and ask the administrator to compare its In Call setting with the intended ringing arrangement. A quiet handset alone does not prove the satellite call was never received; preserve the configured policy.
