S2/1PCN-W1: one satellite works, the other is missing

Identify the missing reception path, preserve settings and compare the installed port map before assuming a failed DiSEqC switch.

Applies to: Exact EMP-Centauri S2/1PCN-W1. These are receiver-side observations for an existing installation, not permission to install, rewire or repair the switch. Do not apply its port table to other models.

Both satellites failDo not change every port setting. Check whether the local menu works and collect the error for support; the common reception path needs investigation.

Work through these checks

  1. Establish the working baseline

Open the receiver’s normal menu, then compare one previously working channel on each configured satellite. Keep a note of names and errors. If only one channel fails while another on the same satellite works, investigate that channel before changing the switch configuration. A TV showing no local menu belongs to the display-path check instead.

What the result means: Record whether the fault affects one channel, one satellite or both reception paths.

  2. Match the installed arrangement

Use the installer’s record or existing photos to identify which satellite feed reaches each switch input. The manual’s two ordinary LNB example maps SAT 1 IN to A and SAT 2 IN to B. Monoblock and cascaded arrangements use a different command table. Treat A/B as a comparison only after confirming the simple arrangement; do not assume receiver menu labels or satellite names from the connector number.

What the result means: Unknown or cascaded arrangement: have the installer confirm the correct table before any setting change.

  3. Compare settings without destructive shortcuts

Compare the saved receiver settings with the confirmed installation map. If a difference appeared after replacing or resetting the receiver, ask the installer to approve the correction and keep the old values so it can be reversed. If the settings already match, report the working and failing channels for cable, LNB or switch-path diagnosis. A channel scan cannot establish correct wiring, and replacing the switch is not justified by these observations alone.

What the result means: Corrected settings restore the known channel: recheck the original activity. Still missing: send the recorded evidence to support.

When to stop and get help

Stop for damaged wiring, water, burning smells, unsafe weather or any need to climb. Leave grounding, outdoor connectors and shared cabling to qualified help. Manufacturer-authorized service handles internal switch repairs.

What to tell support

Keep model label, satellite names, working and failing channels, port assignments, exact error and recent changes. Give the installer the saved settings and observations, rather than a guess that the switch has failed.

Common questions

Should I swap the outdoor leads to test?

No. Preserve the installation and use receiver-side observations. An installer can decide whether isolated electrical tests are appropriate after checking access, grounding and the exact equipment.
