Applies to: TracPhone V3-HTS, original54-1270 Rev B (2018) and matching OEM help. Not V3-IP, V7-HTS or TracVision TV antennas. Confirm installed software, current airtime and coverage with the provider; old manual activation links are not current availability promises.

Work through these checks
Find the actual ICM address
On the vessel network the historical local name is minivsat.kvh. If it fails, read Settings > Network Settings > IP Assignments on the ICM display. The documented default192.168.5.1 is not proof of the installed address; do not change the network to match it.
What the result means: Record model, ICM software, exact connection/antenna/voice states, LCD wording, LEDs, event text and time. Note obstructions and whether the local web interface was accessible; keep vessel location and credentials private.
Compare three status fields
OEM normal indications are Connection Status Online, Antenna State Tracking and My Phone Online & Ready. The ICM LCD Online Tracking combines service and antenna status. A voice-only fault needs the My Phone state, not an assumption that all satellite functions have failed.
What the result means: Record model, ICM software, exact connection/antenna/voice states, LCD wording, LEDs, event text and time. Note obstructions and whether the local web interface was accessible; keep vessel location and credentials private.
Compare searching with the pointing direction
For repeated searching, note nearby masts, structures, other vessels and weather from a safe position. Read the displayed direction or Status > Antenna/ACU Status > Current Az/El. Send the recorded pattern to support; do not clear tracking-avoidance or no-transmit zones to force reception.
What the result means: Observe from an authorized onboard interface. Stay outside the RF hazard area (the original guide specifies10m from the powered antenna). Do not open the ICM, move cables, reset configuration, change no-transmit or avoidance zones, or restart a working vessel link as a test. Changes belong to a qualified installer.
Separate a temporary operation from a fault
For this V3-HTS help revision, warning 404 means the antenna is unwinding its internal cable; the OEM expects operation to resume within one minute. Record a repeated or prolonged event rather than treating it as an ordinary permanent outage. Warning 415 means a modem software update is running: do not switch off power during that update. Warning 417 identifies a tracking avoidance zone; retain that protective configuration and ask support about the recorded direction. Codes 130 or 271 identify an HTS configuration mismatch between ICM and LNB, requiring KVH assistance rather than repeated searching or an assumed coverage problem.
What the result means: Record model, ICM software, exact connection/antenna/voice states, LCD wording, LEDs, event text and time. Note obstructions and whether the local web interface was accessible; keep vessel location and credentials private.
When to stop and get help
Observe from an authorized onboard interface. Stay outside the RF hazard area (the original guide specifies10m from the powered antenna). Do not open the ICM, move cables, reset configuration, change no-transmit or avoidance zones, or restart a working vessel link as a test. Changes belong to a qualified installer.
What to tell support
Record model, ICM software, exact connection/antenna/voice states, LCD wording, LEDs, event text and time. Note obstructions and whether the local web interface was accessible; keep vessel location and credentials private.
