Applies to: Hughes 9350 as documented in the 9300 Series guide 1038495-0001 Rev D, copyright 2009–2010. The cover names the series and internal headers name 9350; the manual covers Class 10 and 11. Read the installed UE Class rather than inferring class, antenna compatibility or current service from the model name. Not Hughes 9450.
Work through these checks
Separate the local page and named LEDs
Use the existing authorized client and owner-confirmed Web MMI address. A page that opens proves local access, not satellite data service. Read the four IDU lamps described on page 4: Ready concerns network attachment, while Comm concerns a CS call. If the page does not open, page 32 separates a local-interface/subnet problem from configured WLAN/key issues; retain existing settings rather than disabling encryption or changing addresses.
What the result means: The report identifies the last proven local or attachment stage without treating a quiet Comm lamp as failed packet data.
Compare registration with the existing PDP entry
Properties (page 11) separates Registration, PS Attach and CS Attach. PS attachment still needs a PDP context for packet data; inspect only the already existing entry and its original failure evidence. A displayed APN or requested QoS is configuration, not proof of activation. Capture UE Class before interpreting a service request: page 33 limits the documented 256 kbps streaming case to Class 10 at elevation at least 45 degrees, while Class 11 has a documented maximum of 128 kbps; this historical limit is not a current service promise or a reason to start streaming.
What the result means: Local access and registration can coexist with an unestablished or unsupported requested data service. Provider and installed-class evidence must match before a hardware conclusion.
Read antenna evidence and preserve original alarms
The Antenna page (26) separates ATB State, Antenna Tracking and ABIT startup-test results. It does not update automatically; note the observation time and use its read-only refresh if authorized. ABIT 0 means no error; 255 means the test has not yet run, not a failed component. Other values need the full code and history for support. Properties GPS coordinates appear only after a fix and when network policy permits; hidden coordinates alone do not prove no fix. Preserve existing logs without rerunning tests, restoring defaults or rebooting.
What the result means: Support receives timed tracking, startup-result and registration evidence without confusing stale pages, hidden coordinates or an unrun test with a confirmed antenna failure.
When to stop and get help
Do not register, start or stop PDP contexts, place calls, change APN/QoS/WLAN/security, enter PIN/PUK, reset or power-cycle to reproduce a fault. Do not move the antenna, open its housing or alter vehicle/RF wiring. Preserve communications and use qualified support for unsafe equipment or unresolved alarms.
What to tell support
Privately retain model, UE Class, core/IB versions, original time, named LEDs, Registration/PS/CS values, existing PDP state, antenna ATB/Tracking and complete ABIT/alarm values. Keep coordinates, IMEI/IMSI, addresses and credentials private; preserve original logs for authorized support.
