Pathway X1 Rev7: setup missing, satellite error or second receiver?

Use the exact 2017 X1 manual to separate a missing Mobile Antenna Setup screen, 150/151 reception messages and the primary-controlled satellite on a secondary receiver.

Applies to: Winegard Pathway X1, identified by the OEM as PA-2000/PA-2035, using original manual 2452314 Rev7 10-17. This is not Pathway X2, Playmaker or Carryout. The manual’s United States reception and receiver examples are historical documentation, not confirmation of current compatibility, subscription or coverage. Use while stationary only.

Work through these checks

  1. Identify the receiver, port and existing setup screen

Read whether the affected receiver is attached to MAIN or SEC without changing connections. MAIN must be present for antenna power. If Mobile Antenna Setup is absent, the original troubleshooting table lists receiver-to-dish communication and receiver-software compatibility, not just blocked sky. Record the receiver model/software and current screen. On the documented Wally interface, ordinary viewing reaches Settings by pressing Home twice, then Diagnostics → DISH; stop before Test Installation, which starts a new Check Switch test. A missing setup screen alone does not tell you which cable or software is wrong.

What the result means: A receiver unable to communicate with the antenna is a different stage from an antenna that searches but misses a satellite. Keep the installed MAIN/SEC and receiver context for qualified support; do not infer present compatibility from a historical receiver list.

  2. Keep 150 and 151 distinct

For the original attempt, record 150 All Satellites Not Found or 151 No Satellites Found exactly, including when it appeared. The Rev7 table associates 150 with obstructions or coverage issues in the extreme northeast or northwest; it associates 151 with obstructions or an intermittent coax connection. Record known weather, obstruction and installed cable-route information from safe existing observations. These are listed possible causes, not a verdict that another satellite, a new cable or an update will fix the problem. Do not recreate the search or bypass an outside TV receptacle to complete the record.

What the result means: The full message narrows which branch support should investigate, but neither code by itself identifies a replacement part. Preserve the first failure sequence; a later successful or failed scan would be a different observation.

  3. Interpret a secondary receiver’s channel loss

If the primary receiver still works and only the secondary lost channels, record whether the primary had just changed to a channel on another satellite. Printed page 6 states that the primary determines the satellite; the secondary must use that satellite, and its guide contains only the channels available from the installed satellite. A primary change to a different satellite can therefore remove the secondary’s reception. Preserve the already-selected channels and original sequence rather than provoking another switch. Do not run Check Switch, alter receiver configuration or buy a second antenna merely to establish this documented limitation.

What the result means: A secondary-only loss following a primary satellite change can fit the documented shared-satellite design rather than a total system failure. Give support both receiver identities and the existing channel sequence so they can distinguish that limitation from a separate signal or communication fault.

When to stop and get help

Stop for unsafe wind, water exposure, damaged equipment, roof access or vehicle movement. Keep clear of an antenna already searching and do not interrupt an update, open the dome or rewire an outside receptacle as a trial. Preserve the original installation and ask qualified support about persistent communication, cable-route or receiver-compatibility problems.

What to tell support

Privately retain X1 label, Rev7 manual, receiver model/software, MAIN or SEC, original time and current observation time, full message, Mobile Setup or Diagnostics screen state, affected channels and any known primary satellite change. Note already-known obstruction, weather and installed cable route. Keep serials and account details out of public screenshots.
