Work through these checks
Separate TV output from the reception banner
Record whether the decoder’s menu or i-Plate is already visible on the TV. The i-Plate can show other programmes without changing the viewed channel. Preserve the complete error banner: “There is no signal” is different from a blank TV input, a closed channel or a service reserved for future use. Do not rescan or repoint from a single colour.
What the result means: A visible decoder page establishes a TV output path, not reception of every service. The full banner determines the next evidence branch.
Keep card and account messages distinct
Record the exact existing smartcard message. The table separately names invalid/missing card, card not enabled for this channel, suspended account and smartcard marriage conflict. PG-blocked is another branch. Preserve the matched card and receiver; do not swap or reseat cards, attempt PINs or apply another receiver’s activation procedure.
What the result means: Authorization or pairing text is not the same diagnosis as lost RF signal. Give the exact wording and matched identity to the appropriate support service; this historical table does not grant current access.
Interpret existing reminders before unexplained channel changes
Use an already observed reminder or i-Plate icon: B is a banner reminder and A is autotune. The guide says the banner appears 30 seconds before the programme; autotune warns five seconds before and can change channel if no action is taken. Record the time and existing icon without creating, deleting or changing reminders. These entries are reminders, not evidence of a stored recording.
What the result means: A timed channel change can match an existing autotune reminder rather than a reception fault. Keep its timing separate from any simultaneous signal or card banner.
When to stop and get help
Stop for damage or an LNB-short warning and use an accredited installer. Do not move powered coax, swap cards, attempt PINs, retune, reset or start upgrades. Do not interrupt a download already underway.
What to tell support
Privately retain model, original time, visible TV/menu state, complete banner, named lamp pattern and existing A/B reminder. Give matched card/receiver details only to authorized support; redact card, account and household identifiers publicly.
