9502 ATEX/C1D2 Rev H: authorized observation of connection stages

Read-only support triage for the exact labelled 9502 edition, separating GPS, BGAN/PDP state, Gen2 feature limits and current evidence without physical service work.

Applies to: This is the ATEX/C1D2-labelled external-antenna edition documented by Hughes 3500782-0001 Rev H, dated 23 February 2026. The manual identifies kit 3500509-0004; it is not the standard H64151 edition. Match installed markings, IDU part number and software before applying these observations. This page does not determine hazardous-area suitability, certification validity or current airtime entitlement.

Work through these checks

  1. Record the existing GPS and network stage

Read the existing Connection text. Registering is an attempt; Registered means attached without a context; Connected means an active PDP context. In Connected the LEDs may go off after a one-minute timeout, so darkness alone is not proof of lost power. Separately record GPS Acquiring, Stored, 2D/3D GPS Fix or external GNSS Fix. A location field saying Waiting can concern the network’s location-display policy even when a fix exists.

What the result means: The evidence separates registration without data from an active context and from a location-display restriction.

  2. Match the generation before comparing features

Compare hardware and software before interpreting a legacy network design. Rev H identifies Gen2 IDUs from part-number suffix 0012 upward and an 8.9.x.y software family, versus legacy 5.9.x.y. Gen2 does not support Wake on LAN or PPPoE. Record the installed client’s expected method and current terminal mode for authorized support; do not enable another mode, send old commands or treat a missing legacy feature as proof of damaged hardware.

What the result means: Support receives the hardware/software boundary and expected client behavior without a configuration change.

  3. Preserve current evidence for qualified service

If existing policy permits, retain the current System, Event and Packet log exports from Home for authorized support. Give each file a distinct timestamp and verify that it is a current export, not a cached prior download. The manual describes browser/version and FTP-security limitations; an export failure is not evidence of antenna failure. Preserve security controls and ask support for an approved retrieval path rather than disabling protection.

What the result means: A time-labelled support record is ready without opening the terminal, disturbing the hazardous-area installation or erasing settings.

When to stop and get help

Do not approach the transmitting antenna, open units or covers, insert USB devices, reconnect cables, operate the function button or change pointing, network mode, APN or security. Installation and repair require qualified personnel and the site’s hazardous-location controls. Do not bypass an access restriction or reset to regain access.

What to tell support

Privately retain exact unit markings and part numbers, software family, Connection/GPS text, observed LED pattern, expected client method and timestamped original logs. Include when the fault began and what still works. The supplier handles the manufacturer RMA route; do not publish IMEI/IMSI, credentials or site details.
