GFSAT101SD: SCART, HD limits and information evidence

Preserve the exact SD receiver’s lock and signal readings while separating a listed-but-unsupported HD service and a hidden non-Freesat list.

Applies to: Goodmans GFSAT101SD, the standard-definition model printed on the actual manual cover. The final page identifies Rev1 060411, consistent with the 6 April 2011 production footer GFSAT101SD_IB for EAGA_0411. This is not evidence for a GFSAT101SD2 or GFSAT200HD/A variant. Old channel lists, software-upgrade examples, frequencies and support numbers do not establish current availability or upgrade support.

Work through these checks

  1. Check TV path and HD versus SD

Note whether MENU appears on the TV’s current SCART input. If it does, the TV path is working far enough to show the receiver interface. Check the affected service’s format: printed p. 55 explicitly says high-definition channels may appear in the guide but cannot be watched on GFSAT101SD. Compare another existing SD service if available. Preserve that distinction before replacing cables, requesting dish work or assuming every guide-listed channel is decodable.

  2. Read receiver information without installing

Use MENU → option 0, the Information route documented on p. 56. Record the model/versions, Lock Indicator, Network ID, Transport Stream and strength/quality shown on p. 50. Include exact message, channel, time and weather. The help table associates absent network/transport IDs with dish/cable checks and poor reception with weather among other causes; give those observations to the installer rather than realigning, opening covers or treating one displayed percentage as a universal pass mark.

  3. Preserve the existing manual-service list

For a previously stored non-Freesat service, record the current Show non-freesat services setting before changing anything. The manual says these services do not appear in the programme guide; their documented list route is CH LIST, then SWAP. A hidden list entry is different from a missing satellite signal. Do not add screenshot frequencies, reinstall or delete lists to make it appear: first-time installation removes added non-Freesat services and reminders.

When to stop and get help

Stop for damage, moisture or unsafe leads; do not open the receiver or perform dish work. Do not launch first-time installation as a generic cure, because it removes reminders and added non-Freesat channels. A guide entry for an HD channel does not make the SD hardware capable of displaying it; do not promise a cable, reset or unverified firmware will change that.

What to tell support

Keep model and versions, affected channel and HD/SD type, SCART/TV input, menu visibility, Lock Indicator, Network ID, Transport Stream and both signal readings with time/weather. Note whether the missing service is an already stored non-Freesat channel. Share postcode and serial details privately with support, not in public screenshots.
