PLB1 / PLB3
These pages cover PLB1, PLB3, EPIRB1 and EPIRB3 / EPIRB1 Pro / EPIRB2 Pro / EPIRB3 Pro / E100 / E100G only. Pro versions and country protocols require their own documentation. A country filter does not confirm approval or registration. PLB1: 912S-01260 Issue 02.23 (2025-04-17). PLB3: 912S-03718 Issue 01.02 (2025-07-03). EPIRB1 Pro: 912S-03403 Issue 02.34 (2025-12-11). EPIRB2 Pro: 912S-04393 Issue 01.00 (2023-05-22). EPIRB3 Pro: 912S-03968 Issue 01.06 (2025-12-16). E100 / E100G: 912S-00624.
PLB1 / PLB3 · 406 MHz / AIS / NFC / RLS
On PLB1, keep the antenna rewind mechanism distinct from PLB3 controls: the manual says not to push the antenna back into the case. In an existing record, three quick green flashes mean a GPS fix; five quick flashes mark a 406 MHz transmission, not a rescue acknowledgement. Do not activate it to reproduce this. PLB3 NFC lets a compatible phone read programmed details and the latest test results; it is not Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Separate 406 MHz and AIS indications. RLS confirms that an alert was received, located and routed, not that a rescue mission has launched. RLS configuration depends on the country protocol and is not user-changeable.
EPIRB1 / EPIRB3
EPIRB1 uses a manual-release bracket; do not treat it as the automatic-release Pro model. Read the unit’s class label: this manual distinguishes Class 2 water activation from Class 3 manual-only activation. Do not immerse it to check. Keep basic and GNSS test records separate. EPIRB3 Issue 01.03 covers Class 2, Category 2, not EPIRB3 Pro. Its bracket is manual release. NFC reads programmed details and latest test results. Distinguish 406 MHz, AIS and RLS records; an RLS reply does not confirm rescue deployment. A broken red protective cover requires authorized service, not home replacement.
Pro · Category 1 / HR1E
The Category 1 Pro assembly uses a float-free automatic-release housing with an HR1E hydrostatic release unit. Inspect visible mounting, antenna damage, obstructions and the marked HRU expiry without releasing, dismantling or wetting it. The beacon lanyard must not be tied to vessel structures. Refer damage or an expired or unclear HRU date to authorized beacon service.
E100 / E100G · 2020-06-10
The OEM service letter dated 2020-06-10 covers all E100/E100G beacons and describes an exchange process for failed self-tests. Review the full notice with authorized service if an existing test failed or the unit activated unexpectedly. Current exchange eligibility is not established here. This single family entry does not import NFC, RLS or Pro procedures.
When to stop and get help
Cracks, a broken protective cover or a persistent failed result require authorized beacon service. An ordinary TV installer is not a substitute. This page cannot certify the beacon fit for use.
What to tell support
Privately compare the label UIN with your existing registration confirmation. Give authorized beacon service the exact model, manual edition, photographs and abnormal result; keep identifiers and contacts out of public reports.
