Manhattan SX no signal: check the feed type

A Sky Q wideband-only feed cannot tune on an SX; confirm the receiver and signal path before buying parts.

Applies to: UK Manhattan SX Freesat HD box with one SAT IN. Other Manhattan models such as S4•R have different feed support.

Work through these checks

  1. Separate TV input from satellite reception

Turn on the SX and select its HDMI or AV input on the TV. Manhattan says the SX front LED is blue when on. Press GUIDE; seeing the TV Guide proves the receiver picture reaches the TV. If menus do not appear, follow Manhattan’s HDMI/AV and TV-input checks before touching the satellite feed.

What the result means: A TV input error and the SX’s “No Signal” require different checks.

  2. Check the indoor SAT IN connection

Power off the SX. Confirm its single SAT IN cable is seated finger-tight at the receiver and, if reachable, at the satellite wall plate. A push-fit TV aerial socket is not a threaded satellite feed. Do not use pliers, open the wall plate or alter shared wiring. Power on and follow the SX’s signal check.

What the result means: A loose indoor connector may explain poor signal; a tight plug cannot prove feed compatibility.

  3. Confirm standard versus wideband feed

If the SX still cannot tune, ask the installer or building manager whether this room has a standard (Universal/legacy) feed or wideband-only Sky Q output. Manhattan says the SX normally needs standard; wideband-only cannot work. A hybrid LNB may have standard outputs, but only a qualified installer should identify or alter dish-end wiring. Shared SCR systems are a special case requiring model-specific configuration; ask Manhattan or the installer rather than guessing.

What the result means: Compatibility depends on the signal type, not just the shape of the F-connector.

When to stop and get help

Do not climb, swap LNB outputs, change a shared multiswitch or buy a new receiver before feed compatibility is established. Ask a qualified installer for dish-end changes and Manhattan support for unusual SCR setups.

What to tell support

SX model; TV input versus SX error; SAT IN cable condition; source of existing dish feed; installer-confirmed signal type.

Common questions

Will my old Sky Q cable work?

The plug may fit, but wideband-only Sky Q outputs do not work with the SX. A standard output on a hybrid LNB may work; ask an installer to identify it.

Is SCR supported?

Manhattan says SX can support SCR in rare cases with manual setup. Ask its support or your installer to confirm your particular shared system.
