DIGIT ISIO S2: missing recordings or silent MP2 files

Use the exact V4 original to separate an unavailable recording target, the TV/radio library view and the model-specific AAC-to-MP2 limitation.

Applies to: Exact DIGIT ISIO S2, German 222-page original selected as V4 in TechniSat’s archive. Its final production code is 171007V4 2672 2300000475600; no publication date is inferred. This historical equipment documentation does not confirm present app, channel or subscription availability.

Work through these checks

  1. Read the existing storage target

Open Hauptmenü → Filme-DVR/Musik/Bilder verwalten → Aufnahmemedien-Einstellungen and read the already selected medium without changing it. The original lists USB storage, SD/MMC and available shared network storage. Record the medium name, front or rear USB port, partition and displayed free space. Each USB partition appears as a separate device. For a network target, note whether the expected share is available; do not alter credentials.

What the result means: An unavailable target can explain why no file was created: the original says pending DVR timers are discarded when the required recording medium is absent. A different partition or share is also a different library location, not evidence of deletion.

  2. Use the matching TV or radio DVR view

Open the existing DVR Navigator or use the functions list Filme/DVR → Eigene Aufnahmen on the identified medium. The original says the list contains TV or radio recordings according to whether the receiver is in TV or radio mode. Check the matching view and storage location before deciding that the programme is missing; INFO can display the selected programme’s details. Leave delete and editing commands alone.

What the result means: A recording found in the other mode or storage location was hidden by the current view rather than proven lost. If the correct library and target still lack it, preserve the original timer and storage evidence for support; do not create a replacement recording as a test.

  3. Distinguish the DVR recording from its extra MP2

For an existing radio recording, read the current Speicherformat Radioaufnahmen under Hauptmenü → Filme-DVR/Musik/Bilder verwalten → DVR-Einstellungen without changing it. The V4 manual distinguishes DVR from DVR+MP2, which adds an MP2 file. TechniSat’s exact-model FAQ states that AAC radio recordings cannot be saved as MP2: the additional MP2 can be empty or silent, and only DVR format is supported for that case. Identify which file failed before drawing a hardware conclusion.

What the result means: An empty extra MP2 from AAC is a documented format limitation, not proof that the original DVR programme is absent. Keep the DVR file and report the broadcaster’s known audio format and actual file type; do not delete or convert the original to test this explanation.

When to stop and get help

Stop before format, delete, initialise, copy or repair operations on the storage medium. The original warns that formatting irreversibly removes its data. Do not unplug an active recording medium or change antenna wiring; preserve the files and obtain qualified storage help if the medium cannot be read normally.

What to tell support

For private support, record the exact receiver and V4 manual, programme and original time, TV/radio mode, selected medium name, USB port or network target, partition, free-space indication, exact error and whether the affected item is DVR or an extra MP2. Do not publish network credentials or the recordings themselves.
