Satellite TV / Detailed guide

Shaw Direct IRC600 / URC600 remote: channels, TV and volume

Separate SAT receiver commands from TV programming and volume settings on the IRC600 or URC600. Preserve the receiver address.

Applies to: Shaw Direct satellite IRC600 and URC600 remotes. Read the rear sticker. IR/RF600 and Rogers cable/Xfinity remotes have different instructions; do not assume UHF support from a similar-looking handset.

Match your symptom

What you seeWhat to do next
Receiver works; TV does notProgram the TV separately.
Wrong receiver respondsRecord both receiver addresses before changing either.

Work through these checks

  1. Test SAT mode first

Confirm the model sticker and fit two AA batteries with correct polarity. Press SAT and test MENU and channel selection facing the receiver with a clear path. Compare receiver controls if available. Preserve existing codes; do not start a whole-system reset.

What the result means: Do not change the dish or satellite wiring for a remote-control symptom.

  2. Program the intended TV

Turn on the TV and find its five-digit brand code in the official manual. Hold TV until AUX and SAT flash at least three to four times, enter the code, then test POWER and turn the TV back on. If it fails, try another listed code for that TV. Press SAT again to test receiver controls.

What the result means: Do not change the dish or satellite wiring for a remote-control symptom.

  3. Keep receiver addressing and audio separate

A custom satellite receiver address must match the remote. If another receiver responds, record both models and current addresses and follow the official addressing help for that setup. For volume-only trouble, identify the TV or audio device producing sound; the master-volume setting is separate from SAT programming. Avoid random receiver codes on a multi-receiver system.

What the result means: Do not change the dish or satellite wiring for a remote-control symptom.

When to stop and get help

Stop if batteries have leaked, the remote is damaged or hot, or pairing still fails after the model-specific procedure. Contact the provider for a compatible replacement. Do not open the receiver or reset its installation to fix a remote.

What to tell support

Record remote and receiver models, battery type, which functions work (channels, volume, power, voice), and the pairing message or light pattern.

Is this a cable remote guide?
