Carryout G2+: power lights and no picture

First locate the missing link: input power, receiver coax or antenna coax. Then separate satellite acquisition from a receiver that has no picture. Photograph all four power-inserter indicators before changing anything.

Applies to: Carryout G2+, manual 2452360 Rev0 11/15. Confirm the antenna and power-inserter labels. Do not substitute original G2, G3 or TRAV’LER instructions. Historical receiver lists are not current compatibility approval.

Match your symptom

What you seeWhat to do next
Read VIN and PWR firstRecord both lights separately.
Trace RCVR and ANT pathsIf lights flicker, record which path is intermittent.
Separate search from blank pictureKeep the antenna status and receiver symptom as separate evidence.

Work through these checks

  1. Read VIN and PWR first

Winegard identifies VIN as input power and PWR as the inserter switched on. If VIN is dark, inspect the supplied adapter and accessible outlet connection. If VIN is lit but PWR is dark, check the power button. A light alone does not prove satellite reception.

What the result means: Record both lights separately.

  2. Trace RCVR and ANT paths

RCVR concerns the powered receiver and its coax; ANT concerns communication with the antenna. With the inserter off, compare accessible connections with manual page 2: receiver SAT IN to RECEIVER using the supplied 3-foot cable; ANTENNA to G2+ PRIMARY using the supplied 25-foot cable. Do not swap the two paths or diagnose a failed motor from an unlit cable indicator.

What the result means: If lights flicker, record which path is intermittent.

  3. Separate search from blank picture

For a search that stops without lock, check obstruction and weather from a safe location. For an apparent lock with no picture, confirm the exact receiver and provider setup against current Winegard information. The 2015 setup examples do not approve a newer receiver or guarantee today’s channels.

What the result means: Keep the antenna status and receiver symptom as separate evidence.

When to stop and get help

Park before use; this antenna is stationary-only. Keep cabling away from traffic. Switch the power inserter off before reconnecting coax. Use the supplied adapter, not an improvised supply; leave exposed wiring, voltage measurements and roof work to qualified service.

What to tell support

Record the G2+ model, inserter label, VIN/PWR/RCVR/ANT states, cable routing, receiver model, provider, search behavior and exact on-screen error. Send private account identifiers only to authorized support.

Common questions

Why does the main TV work but the second receiver has no signal?

First confirm the main receiver has signal. The secondary receiver uses a separate coax path to the antenna’s secondary port, not the main power-inserter RCVR path. With power off before cable changes, inspect that accessible path. Winegard’s direct-cable test bypasses coach wiring; if reception returns, investigate the bypassed cable/wiring rather than assuming the antenna failed. Leave inaccessible installation work to service.

Do two connections guarantee two arbitrary channels at once?

No. The 2452360 manual’s DISH dual-tuner note requires the simultaneously watched or recorded programs to be on the same satellite. A shared satellite limitation can resemble a secondary-receiver fault. Confirm current receiver/service compatibility and the channels involved before replacing parts.
