Work through these checks
01 · Original DeLorme inReach · screenless companion versions
Match the exact model, product code and manual edition. Record the existing connections, status indicators and displayed error without changing them. Preserve settings and stored data; do not reset, flash software, format storage or alter wiring as a first check. Keep account details, device identifiers and precise location private.
02 · PN-60w / Power / Signal / Message / GPS / Iridium / SOS
Identify the original screenless DeLorme inReach and its companion version, not SE, Explorer or a Plus model. The dedicated Earthmate PN-60w version is not interchangeable with the smartphone version. Read Power, Signal and Message separately: the manual describes Message green once every three seconds while sending, twice every 1.5 seconds for a new message; Signal red once every three seconds means trouble sending or confirming, not automatic hardware failure. A GPS position or local companion connection is not proof of Iridium delivery. Record the existing sequence, queued message and safe open-sky position without sending another message. Have the provider confirm current service eligibility; historical Earthmate and DeLorme portal instructions are not current compatibility guarantees. Keep identifiers and location private. Do not unpair, install old browser plugins, flash, reset or activate SOS for a test.
When to stop and get help
Do not continue these checks in unsafe conditions. For immediate danger, use local emergency services and the device’s emergency instructions. Otherwise, contact your provider or a qualified technician.
What to tell support
Write down your exact model, service provider and on-screen message. Photograph the existing connections for your own reference before changing anything.
