DStv Explora 3B

Official Explora 3B quick-start manual, recording and signal checks.

Confirm your model

Check the model number on the box. The linked 3B guide shows its front LEDs and a rear LNB input, HDMI, USB, Ethernet and power connection. Do not use the original Explora or Ultra wiring diagram.

How it connects

  1. Installed dish / LNB Installed satellite coax
  2. Explora 3B HDMI; optional Ethernet
  3. TV / internet
Simplified signal path, not an installation or rewiring diagram. Follow the linked manual for power connections, grounding and your exact hardware revision.

Satellite channels need the installed LNB feed; online Catch Up uses a separate internet connection. The 3B manual identifies Ethernet and a USB connection for the supported DStv WiFi accessory. Keep model-specific power and installation instructions together.

Lights and messages

  • The Portuguese quick guide identifies steady green as a tuned channel, flashing green as receiving satellite signal, steady red as standby and flashing red as an error.

A light is one clue, not a complete diagnosis. Match the indicator’s label and the on-screen message.

Before buying parts

  • Use the specified power supply and the installed LNB type. Ask an accredited installer about shared feeds. Do not move a powered recorder: the official manual warns of hard-drive damage.

These are compatibility notes and official reference links. Confirm the fault and exact part before buying.

Model-specific parts: start with the official source
