This page covers the rectangular motorized dish with the original Gen 2 router. Its mast moves automatically; do not force the dish angle by hand.

The original router contains the power supply. A Router 3 upgrade follows a separate adapter guide; this diagram does not cover that upgrade.

Lights and messages

  • Bottom light on: router has power. It does not certify an internet connection.
  • Bottom light off: check the outlet and supplied power connection. Use the app for outage and obstruction status.

A light is one clue, not a complete diagnosis. Match the indicator’s label and the on-screen message.

Before buying parts

  • A wired LAN connection on the original Gen 2 router needs the matching Starlink Ethernet Adapter. Gen 3 and Mini cabling are different.
