Check H1i Plus on the hardware label. The combined H1/H1i Plus manual labels features by model; do not assume every chapter applies to both.
How it connects
- Iridium for messages; GNSS for position Clear sky; active inReach plan for satellite messaging
- GPSMAP H1i Plus Messenger for activation; Explore and Wi-Fi for map setup
- Phone apps and local download network
Navigation position reception does not prove a working inReach subscription. Download maps before departure using the documented Explore/Wi-Fi workflow; satellite imagery is a map layer, not a live satellite internet feed.
Lights and messages
- Map Manager reports installed maps and available downloads. Check selected area, layers and storage, not only GPS reception.
- On Mac, absence in Finder alone does not establish a USB failure; follow the manual’s Garmin Express and Windows file-transfer guidance.
A light is one clue, not a complete diagnosis. Match the indicator’s label and the on-screen message.
Before buying parts
- The manual permits microSD up to 1 TB; this is a limit, not a recommendation to buy the largest card. Check compatibility and preserve existing files before changes. Keep the USB port and weather cap dry before connection.
These are compatibility notes and official reference links. Confirm the fault and exact part before buying.
