Ukraine: staying connected during disruption
Practical connectivity checks for Ukraine: Starlink verification, backup power, offline preparation and exact-model troubleshooting.
By the FixSatellite editorial team · Sources checked . This is an English-language guide. Service conditions and official instructions can change.
Start with the connection you already have
If a connection works, preserve it while you prepare alternatives. Save essential contacts, meeting arrangements and the relevant equipment instructions offline. Agree with family or colleagues when to check in and what to do if a message does not arrive. A failed call or message alone does not establish a nationwide outage.
Follow local safety instructions. Do not leave shelter, climb onto a roof or move into an exposed position to test reception. This page is practical technical guidance, not a live outage feed or emergency-response service.
Starlink in Ukraine: check verification before replacing equipment
Ukraine has an official Starlink terminal-verification process. Diia’s update of 13 July 2026 distinguishes individuals and sole traders from legal entities. It describes in-person routes for individuals through administrative service centres, Ukrposhta or Nova Poshta, and an online Diia route for eligible legal entities. The update requires terminal identifiers and physical presentation for the in-person process.
Read Diia’s current instructions in Ukrainian before arranging verification. Follow the eligibility and document requirements there; an active subscription or a terminal bought abroad does not itself prove verification is complete. Requirements can change.
Record your kit model and identifiers privately. Use official service channels; do not post account details, terminal IDs, verification documents or an installation’s exact location in public comments. If the app reports an account or authorization problem, resolve that with the provider and official verification process rather than buying another router or repeatedly resetting the kit.
Separate power, Wi-Fi and satellite-service problems
No equipment power: check whether the approved power supply is receiving power. Stop if a cable, plug or battery is damaged, wet or overheating. Do not open the power supply.
Wi-Fi is visible but there is no internet: record the exact Starlink app status and whether all devices are affected. A local Wi-Fi connection does not prove the terminal has satellite service.
One device fails: compare with another device already connected to the same network before changing the dish or account.
Obstruction or installation message: use the exact kit’s setup instructions. Only inspect from a safe, accessible place; postpone changes that require exposure or roof access.

Plan backup power for the whole kit
Match the power arrangement to the exact terminal, router and approved supply. Starlink publishes kit-specific power information; Mini, Standard and Performance equipment should not be treated as interchangeable. A phone power bank or a connector that fits is not evidence of compatibility.
For planning, divide the battery’s usable watt-hours by the measured total load in watts. For example, 300 usable Wh divided by a measured 60 W is five hours before additional losses or reserve. This is an arithmetic example, not a Starlink consumption specification or runtime guarantee. Allow for conversion losses, temperature, battery condition and other equipment sharing the battery.
Official Starlink power requirements. Use only a supported power arrangement and the battery manufacturer’s instructions.
Make limited connectivity go further
Queue short text updates, pause nonessential downloads and cloud backups, and keep important documents available offline. If you share a connection, agree a simple priority order for essential messages and work. Do not change a working installation merely to chase a faster speed-test result.
If you cannot resolve a fault, keep a private note of the model, exact error, time, power source and checks already completed. Share only what official support needs. Our general satellite internet checklist helps organize those observations.
