Thuraya SeaStar · original System User Guide

Separate SeaStar voice registration from GmPRS data mode before treating incoming-call trouble as a damaged antenna. The original guide says active GmPRS internet mode prevents incoming calls and messages from being received or displayed and gives callers a busy tone. An existing contact restriction is another, narrower possibility; preserve all modes and lists while recording the symptom.

Confirm your model

Original Thuraya SeaStar System User Guide, with 2016 Westone Communications copyright. No separate printed revision or hardware model number was identified; do not infer one from the PDF title or another terminal. This is not MarineStar MNB-01. Match the installed SeaStar and version; the legacy manual is not a promise of current service, coverage or replacement compatibility.

How it connects

The base terminal has separate SAT and GPS antenna paths. RJ-9 serves the handset, RJ-11 extends circuit-switched voice to an analogue phone or PBX, and RJ-45 carries the documented GmPRS computer path. USB and the serial port are maintenance/firmware interfaces, not interchangeable data sockets. Keep the existing installation intact. The source conflicts on SAT/GPS connector-type assignments, so do not choose replacement cables or move antenna leads from this overview.

Lights and messages

  • The Home screen separates the Network line (registration and region), Phone Status symbols, GPS coordinates and time/date. Its indicator table distinguishes modem initializing/initialized, CS voice registration, signal strength, and GmPRS connecting/connected. About SeaStar → Status documents service/mobile-network state and version/identity information. Record exact words and the screen, rather than reducing all these states to “signal present”.

A light is one clue, not a complete diagnosis. Match the indicator’s label and the on-screen message.

Before buying parts

  • The original package names the active antenna and mounting kit, separate 25 m SAT/GPS cables, power cable and USB OTG firmware cable. Its package and detailed antenna pages reverse the SAT/GPS connector-type descriptions; keep that unresolved rather than infer an adapter or swap. Match installed labels and manufacturer confirmation through qualified marine service. RJ-11 impedance also belongs to the installed phone/PBX configuration, not a generic replacement recommendation.

These are compatibility notes and official reference links. Confirm the fault and exact part before buying.
