Starlink Router Mini (indoor router)

Compact indoor Wi-Fi router or mesh node, distinct from the Mini dish. Check the upstream kit and local network separately.

Confirm your model

Starlink Router Mini, the indoor router with a kickstand and LAN/WAN ports, not the Starlink Mini satellite dish. This guide checks an existing mesh connection. A Gen 1 router cannot be a Starlink mesh parent; replacing it with Router Mini for a circular dish is a separate supported setup, not wireless meshing with Gen 1.

How it connects

  1. Working main Starlink kit Supported wired or wireless link
  2. Router Mini Local Wi-Fi or LAN
  3. Phone or computer
Simplified signal path, not an installation or rewiring diagram. Follow the linked manual for power connections, grounding and your exact hardware revision.

For an existing wired mesh link, identify the main router’s LAN connection and Router Mini’s WAN port marked with the Starlink symbol. Do not confuse the downstream LAN port with its upstream WAN input. Check only accessible indoor cables against the diagram. A connection to the Mini dish needs the appropriate Starlink Mini Ethernet cable to preserve its weather seal; an ordinary indoor cable should not be assumed to provide that protection.

Lights and messages

  • Check the main Starlink connection before blaming the mesh node. If devices near the main router also have no internet, adding or re-pairing Router Mini cannot repair the upstream satellite fault. If the main connection works and only the distant room fails, continue with the node’s local connection and placement.
  • Test on a dry, stable shelf closer to the main router and away from major metal/concrete obstructions. Starlink recommends no more than two rooms between wireless routers and warns that more than three mesh nodes can worsen performance. First test the existing small network rather than buying more nodes. Compare the original failed activity in the room after the connection appears on the app’s Network screen.

A light is one clue, not a complete diagnosis. Match the indicator’s label and the on-screen message.

Before buying parts

  • Do not press factory reset, enable bypass or change the main network just to make a mesh prompt appear. Bypass intentionally disables Starlink Wi-Fi and its violet LED can turn off after one hour; a dark LED alone is not proof of failed power. Keep Router Mini indoors with its matching supply. Stop for damage, heat, wet wiring or unsafe cable access; ask Starlink or a qualified network installer.
