Confirm your model
KVH TracPhone V7-IP with Integrated CommBox Modem (ICM), original 54-0898 Rev B, copyright 2013. Match the antenna, ICM and installed software. This is not the older V7 with separate modem, V7-HTS, V3-IP or a V30. Historical mini-VSAT service, voice accounts and portal instructions do not establish present availability or compatibility.
How it connects
The antenna and ICM link the vessel to the documented Ku-band satellite/hub path. The ICM contains the modem, router, wireless access point and MTA; Ethernet data and analogue voice are separate local paths. Rev B describes four User Ethernet ports, whose installed physical configuration may be standard LAN, Static IP or Dual Dome. The wiring diagram separates TxRF, RxRF and power/data antenna connections. Observe the installed labels without moving cables or copying a later model’s port configuration.
Lights and messages
- My VSAT shows Connection Status and Antenna State separately. Support adds Login State, where Waiting means awaiting the hub reply. My Phone has its own service status and Line 1/Line 2 state: Available, Dialing, Off Hook and Ringing are green, In Use orange and Unavailable gray in Rev B. A green line state is not necessarily an idle line. If zones are configured, orange Transmit Disabled means enforced no-transmit zones; red Transmit Enabled means zones are ignored. Preserve those safety settings.
A light is one clue, not a complete diagnosis. Match the indicator’s label and the on-screen message.
Before buying parts
- The original system diagram labels the computer and analogue phone as customer-supplied, not guaranteed contents of a replacement package. Its related documents include the model-specific Installation Guide and Kitpack Contents List. Use those installed-system records for accessory matching; do not infer that another V7, HTS antenna, MTA or modem is interchangeable. The original modem and MTA are inside the ICM.
