Read the base model/revision. The linked Rev B quick reference is for VQ4900/VQ4950; other Tailgater generations and later Pro revisions need their own documents.
How it connects
- Portable antenna with MAIN coax port MAIN to receiver SATELLITE IN carries signal and power
- Supported DISH receiver Receiver HDMI to the selected TV input
- Television on the correct HDMI input
Use supplied RG-6 and connect receiver power last. A direct ground-level coax test separates antenna/receiver acquisition from an uncertain RV splitter path. Confirm current compatibility with DISH.
Lights and messages
- The receiver’s menu proves TV input/HDMI, not satellite acquisition. Mobile Antenna Setup guides the actual-location scan.
- Moving the antenna during or after acquisition requires another scan. Activation and location-limited channels need provider checks.
A light is one clue, not a complete diagnosis. Match the indicator’s label and the on-screen message.
Before buying parts
- Do not overtighten coax or buy a receiver without checking the supported list. Roof work and RV mains wiring need qualified installation; portable setup checks stay at ground level.
