Match the SatDOCK9555 label and separate HFI module to USRMAN004502 revision 02, March 2010, whose cover also says Version 1.0. The documented handset is Iridium9555; printed page 25 requires firmware 9007 or later. Record Phone Information rather than installing old firmware. IntelliDOCK and PotsDOCK are different products.
How it connects
The cradle links the docked 9555 to its external antenna and separate HFI module. Speaker and microphone connect through HFI; the optional Intelligent Handset has its own HFI connection. Computer data uses mini-USB under the cradle or DB9 on HFI. These are different physical endpoints; USB takes priority over DB9.
Lights and messages
- The Mute LED is off in normal hands-free mode, steady red when the uplink microphone is muted, slowly flashing orange in Earpiece-Jack mode, and rapidly flashing red for incompatible handset or connection error. Neither mute nor privacy mode is a satellite-registration indication.
A light is one clue, not a complete diagnosis. Match the indicator’s label and the on-screen message.
Before buying parts
- The documented package includes cradle, HFI, speaker and microphone. Antenna/cable and Intelligent Handset are optional. Printed page 33 identifies the optional BEAM RST970 and requires an approved BEAM DPL-based Iridium Intelligent Handset; its RJ45-style connection does not establish Ethernet compatibility.
