Thuraya WE

A legacy dual satellite/cellular hotspot. Its local Wi-Fi, selected network and enabled service are separate stages: satellite Voice and Standard IP data are alternative submodes, not simultaneous services. Current service, roaming and app support require provider confirmation.

Confirm your model

Match the WE name and the underside label, including its TCF serial, satellite/cellular IMEIs and Wi-Fi SSID. Record the installed firmware and app version. The linked 118-page English/Arabic manual has no identified printed revision; this page does not cover IP Voyager, IP+ or newer NEO hardware. The OEM now places WE in Legacy.

How it connects

  1. Phone / computer Local Wi-Fi
  2. Thuraya WE One active network mode
  3. Selected satellite or cellular network
Simplified signal path, not an installation or rewiring diagram. Follow the linked manual for power connections, grounding and your exact hardware revision.

A phone or computer joins the WE Wi-Fi network, then WE connects through one selected external network. On that local Wi-Fi, the guide uses http://we.local or default http://192.168.0.1 for management. The browser portal controls the unit but does not provide its call/SMS interface; those functions use the WE app. Opening the portal proves local access, not internet registration.

Lights and messages

  • Read the dashboard’s selected mode and registration result together. Auto switching can change the attempted network according to the SIM and timeout; a cellular registration does not demonstrate that the satellite path worked. Only one network mode operates at a time.
  • SAPA is satellite pointing assistance, not an internet-session indicator. A red SAPA bar means insufficient signal for registration in this manual. The dashboard must then report registration, and broadband data must separately be enabled for an internet session.

A light is one clue, not a complete diagnosis. Match the indicator’s label and the on-screen message.

Before buying parts

  • The documented package includes the AC plug pack, four international adapters and SIM adapters. Use only approved accessories; a plug that fits does not verify an equivalent power supply. For used equipment, ask the provider to confirm the actual SIM, roaming and WE-app support before purchasing activation or replacement hardware.
