Original SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger, also called SPOT2 in the manufacturer’s guide and support selector. This record uses USERG-ENG-10V3, copyright 2010. Match the actual product/document, not its colour. Not SPOT Personal Tracker, Gen3, Gen4, Trace or X. Historical coverage, account websites and GEOS references do not establish current service or emergency readiness.
How it connects
GPS satellites provide the position; the SPOT then transmits the position and preselected message through communications satellites and the ground network to the configured service destinations. GPS reception, device transmission and a recipient’s existing email/SMS result are separate observations. The manual places the antenna under the logo and calls for an unobstructed sky view. Preserve the current routine cycle rather than pressing another function to test the path.
Lights and messages
- Identify the named light. A function light blinking green means that function is engaged. GPS blinking green means searching for a location, not proof of a completed fix; GPS red means no location fix. Message Sending green reports the latest transmission, while red reports that it was not transmitted. For routine Check-In/Custom, the sending indication may remain for an hour after the cycle; it is not a new request or recipient acknowledgement. Keep the original time and function with the colour.
A light is one clue, not a complete diagnosis. Match the indicator’s label and the on-screen message.
Before buying parts
- The original manufacturer specification sheet lists an armband case with carabiner. That historical supplied case is not a statement that accessories from Gen3 or Gen4 fit this unit. Preserve the installed carrying arrangement and the logo’s unobstructed sky view; do not open the device housing or alter covered controls to collect routine message evidence.
