NETGEAR Orbi RBK663 — RBR660 / RBS660

Indoor Wi-Fi mesh equipment used behind a compatible satellite-internet connection; not a satellite terminal or internet service.

Confirm your model

An existing NETGEAR Orbi home Wi-Fi system connected by Ethernet to Starlink. Orbi’s “satellite” is an indoor mesh node, not the orbiting network or outdoor dish. Hardware-specific LED and Sync instructions here apply to the manual’s RBR660/RBS660, RBR750P/RBS750P and RBR760/RBS760 families; another Orbi generation needs its own manual.

How it connects

  1. Working Starlink Ethernet output Ethernet to Internet/WAN
  2. RBR660 Orbi router Local mesh link
  3. RBS660 indoor mesh node
Simplified signal path, not an installation or rewiring diagram. Follow the linked manual for power connections, grounding and your exact hardware revision.

Read both product labels before buying an adapter. NETGEAR’s Starlink setup article describes the adapter-equipped Standard Actuated/Gen 2 arrangement; it is not proof that every later kit needs that adapter. Router 3 exposes Ethernet ports for a third-party router. Run the appropriate Starlink Ethernet output into the Orbi router’s Internet/WAN port, not an Orbi satellite. Check only accessible indoor Ethernet plugs and try a known-good cable if available; preserve the dish power path.

Lights and messages

  • For the listed families, a magenta router front LED means no internet, while a magenta satellite front LED means the indoor node did not synchronize with its router. Those are different faults. Bring a movable indoor node closer using its original supply; if needed, press the router’s Sync button then the node’s Sync within two minutes, as the manual specifies. Blue indicates a good link, amber a fair link; the status LED normally turns off after displaying the result. Do not press Reset instead of Sync.
  • Identify the existing design before changing it. With Starlink routing normally, a supported Orbi can act as an access point; its addressing then comes from the upstream router. With Starlink bypass enabled, the Orbi must provide routing and receive its WAN address automatically by DHCP. Do not combine a bypassed Starlink with an Orbi set only as an access point and expect it to provide the missing router functions. Save the current mode first and change one setting at a time only if you can restore it.

A light is one clue, not a complete diagnosis. Match the indicator’s label and the on-screen message.

Before buying parts

  • Stop for heat damage, wet electrics or inaccessible outdoor cables. Do not remove dish power hardware, invent static-IP settings, disable a firewall, or reset both networks for an indoor mesh fault. If the uplink or mode remains uncertain, give NETGEAR/Starlink the model pair, mode and LED location/color; keep passwords and serial numbers private.

These are compatibility notes and official reference links. Confirm the fault and exact part before buying.
