Manhattan S4•R Freesat satellite recorder, using its March 2026 v1.3 guide and current support pages. The terrestrial T4/T4•R and older SX use different hardware; match the label.
How it connects
- Installed satellite feed Existing satellite cables
- S4•R recorder HDMI
- Television
Check the installed feed type before expecting four recordings. Two universal feeds allow two simultaneous recordings; two wideband feeds allow up to four. SCR/Unicable capacity depends on the available user bands detected during setup. One ordinary universal feed provides one tuner. Do not move dish cables or change LNB settings to guess the feed type.
Lights and messages
- A recording conflict message can reflect overlapping schedules or the detected tuner limit; it does not by itself prove the hard drive failed. Record the affected programmes and exact warning before changing padding.
- The S4•R remote uses infrared, not Bluetooth, and needs sight of the box. With the box on, hold SWAP (the two curved arrows/last-channel button) + INFO for three seconds to inspect channels. The TV shows the box channel; remote blue flashes count its channel, while solid blue for three seconds means universal channel 0. Do not confuse this with teaching TV volume.
A light is one clue, not a complete diagnosis. Match the indicator’s label and the on-screen message.
Before buying parts
- Use fresh batteries and the original TV remote’s infrared mode. A Bluetooth-only TV command cannot be learned this way; consult the TV maker rather than randomly unpairing it. Keep the original remote available and do not erase all learned commands first.
- Do not format the drive, factory-reset the recorder or climb to the dish for a scheduling conflict. Leave dish/feed changes to a qualified installer. Stop for heat, electrical damage or unsafe access.
