How it connects
This topic covers the four-satellite-input DStv HD PVR shown in Viewer’s Guide v1.02, October 2008, not a 2P/2U, Explora or Hauppauge capture device. Match both panel drawings. RF In/Out are terrestrial distribution connectors; Satellite Inputs 1–4 are the dish feeds. Preserve an existing SatCR or four-wire installation rather than swapping powered inputs. The front display distinguishes channel number, clock/standby, PLAY and REC1/REC2 recording states. HdCP is an HDMI compatibility/connection message, not proof of a dish fault; do not disable content protection. Compare live viewing, buffered playback and scheduled recordings before blaming reception. Channel changes, reset, rescan and automatic standby clear the temporary live-TV buffer. The guide warns that below 10% free disk space older recordings may be deleted automatically to make room; do not start a recording test or delete items without deciding what must be preserved. Read the Playlist space indicator and exact error first. The manual is historical; current software, service rights and installation support require provider confirmation.
