Nordnet T3: Ranging, DHCP or activation-page loop

Interpret the original T3’s recorded Ranging, Network Entry/DHCP and Online activation-page symptoms without repeating installation.

Applies to: Nordnet Kit Satellite T3, original Edition 20.02 guide, copyright 2020. This is the documented Tooway/Ka-SAT installation context, not K1/K2 on Konnect VHTS or L1. The guide does not identify an exact RM4100/RM4200 modem part number; no new hardware compatibility or current activation promise is inferred.

Work through these checks

  1. Loop after Ranging: preserve HOME and cable-status evidence

The T3 appendix lists Scanning → Syncing → Ranging → Ranged → Network Entry → DHCP → Online. For an existing repeated return to Scanning after Ranging, pages 47–48 distinguish HOME’s Modem/TRIA checks and the cable-resistance value reported by MODEM. This edition expects less than 3 ohms. Record only what the interface already reports; this is not a request to disconnect a cable or use a meter. Missing checks or a different resistance need support interpretation, not an assumed bad modem.

What the result means: This preserves the specific acquisition stage and existing indoor/outdoor link evidence without diagnosing a replacement part from one value.

  2. Loop after Network Entry or DHCP: read the original SNR

Page 48 treats a return to Scanning after Network Entry or DHCP separately from the Ranging loop. It asks for the Rx SNR displayed in MODEM and uses greater than 10 dB as its historical comparison. Preserve the existing value and original stage together. A high displayed SNR does not itself prove that registration or activation completed. Do not copy the manual’s repeated power-cycle or dish-refinement recipe to recreate the result.

What the result means: Nordnet receives the correct loop and measurement context. This edition’s threshold is not a universal target for K1/K2, another modem or today’s service.

  3. Online: distinguish an unopened portal from a redirect loop

Page 49 separates a page that cannot open after Online from a successful activation followed by every requested site returning to the activation page. Record which original case occurred, the exact browser message and whether activation had already been confirmed. The second case is referred to Nordnet; Online is not proof of account provisioning. Do not re-enter a key, change the client or generate new browsing requests to test the redirect.

What the result means: The provider can separate local access, completed satellite synchronization and account/portal handling without destroying the original installation evidence.

When to stop and get help

Do not select beam colours, start installation, change network/security settings, activate service, exchange clients, repeat power cycles, shorten/reterminate coax or move the dish for this comparison. Read only existing interface values, not electrical measurements with a meter. Damaged/wet cables, unsafe access or persistent loops need qualified Nordnet support.

What to tell support

Privately retain kit T3 and guide edition, device labels, original time, complete state sequence, HOME Modem/TRIA marks, displayed cable resistance, Rx SNR and exact portal message. State which values were unavailable rather than recreating them. Keep coordinates, activation keys, customer identifiers and local addresses private.
